History of washing machine

The first mechanised washing was developed in UK and the first machine was a big rotating drum driven by an engine through a flat belt . Washing machine provides the movement of the clothes in the washtub and the flow of water through them. Variation in mechanical actions is primarily controlled by the wash action (Heavy, Normal, Gentle), Pulsator speed, proper machine loads and correct water levels. However too much mechanical action will damage the clothes.

2. CHEMICAL ACTION Detergent type and quantity used have a key role in penetrating the oil-water interface, allowing mechanical action to free the loosened dirt clothes. 3. WATER TEMPERATURE Increased water temperature increases the chemical activity of the detergent. However, water temperature above 45C will damage certain type of fabrics.
4. WASH DURATION

Washing does not happen without Mechanical action. Regardless of detergent concentration, water temperature and wash time, dirt wont be removed from the clothes until mechanical action is applied in the presence of water allowing loosened dirt to be removed by dilution. The four factors explained above work together and their role is interrelated in the form of a pie chart

The four factors share the total pie chart (refer the figure). If anyone factor is reduced, one or more of the others must be increased in order to achieve the satisfactory wash quality. In addition increasing any one or all of the individual factors can increase wash quality. Excessively reducing any one of the four factors can harm wash quality. But increasing a factor beyond the optimum level will not produce the improvement at the same time it will damage the clothes. Hence it is important to optimize the four factors.
