Merits and demerits of science (Or) Technology advantages and disadvantages Technology is the power derived from the application of knowledge. Technology fulfills their needs and improves standard of living of people all over the world. Globalization has been experienced through technology. Technology can be classified into different types such as simple technology, intermediate technology, high technology and appropriate technology and so on. Technology is a mixed package. It has both advantages and disadvantages. It has make our life easy. There has been improvement in food production, health care, housing, education, transport and communication. Our life has become smoother and more comfortable. Science has eradicated most of our superstitious beliefs. Cars, aeroplanes, trains and ships remain good means of transportation. Telephone, cellphone and internet serve as good means of communication. Electricity has changed our lives. Farmers of today follow scientific methods in cultivation. They use machinery for ploughing, sowing and harvesting. They use potential seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers. We have seen green revolution in agriculture. The computer is an electronic marvel of science. Its services to man are immeasurable.

The network of satellites, computer network, internet have brought the world so closer. Next, the tremendous advancement in nuclear technology, medical science, bio- technology, etc have almost everything possible.
Technology is imported and so very expensive. It widens the gap between the rich and the poor. Man has produced disastrous war weapons and atom bombs. The fast development in Science and Technology has put the balance of nature in great danger. The present day air /water /noise pollution ,the global warming have made the existence of the world at stake. The rapid industrialization has affected the ratio of carbon- dioxide and oxygen in the environment. The concentration of human and material resources at a few centres has resulted in large-scale migration of rural population to urban areas and the consequent result of urbanization and slums. Furthermore, man has lost his peace of mind, the inner satisfaction, the value of ethics due to the advancement of science and Technology. Modern technology has become part and parcel of our daily lives. The good and bad effects depend upon how we use something. But it is our duty to develop indigenous technology and utilize the vast labour force available.

Importance of English in Today's life English is the International Language and one of the most popular and most spoken in the technology world. It is widely spoken across the globe, even on the internet. Officially, English now has a special status in more than 75 countries, with a total population of over 2 billion speakers. English is very much important in our life. English communication is a tool for everyday life. It is the only language that truly connects the whole world together. We need to know English to communicate effectively too many developed countries. It is necessary in each and every field. English is a means not only for international commerce; it has become increasingly essential for inter-state commerce and communication. In India, people going from North to South for education or business mostly communicate in English, which has become a link language. It is an integral part of our education. We need to know English language in order to study any science subject or any computer language .

English is also flexible, making adoption of new words,which is nearing one million words,into the language possible. It is the monarch of all languages. It is the medium in all professional platforms. It has become the language of the ordinary folk by its advent into the electronic media.
The modern English is quite described as global lingua France, and it is the major communication tool for science events, business, aviation, entertainment and diplomacy. The British Empire is the main reason that influences the fast pace spread of English language beyond the British Isles. It is the official language of air transport and shipping; the leading language of science, technology, computers, and commerce; and a major medium of education, publishing, and international negotiation.
