Dear Mum, Thank you for leaving a comment on the blog! The maths games we have been playing at school are lots of fun. At the football I add up the points and goals as the players get them. I also add up how much we beat Collingwood by! From your daughter, Sophie (Morris & Jordon, 2012)
Metacognitive thinking
Teachers post multistep mathematics story problems Students reply using mathematics vocabulary, describing computations and strategies and expressing reasoning (Pyon, 2008)
Metacognitive thinking
Students post answers and explain their thinking Example: At first I got a piece of paper and pencil and tried to work it out. My first answer was nine though when I was looking over my answer I realised I didnt have the least amount of ducks there could be. So I realised that there can be three ducks but they had to be standing in the correct place. Which is one in front of the other (Ella).
Intelligent
student directed discussion Posting multistep mathematics problems promotes higher level thinking Opportunities to reflect on learning Can create a culture of support Prompting family involvement (Pyon, 2008; Ross, 2011)
