Role of Extended Telecommunication services in to Poverty Reduction

(A Study of Mobile Financial Services in Rural Areas of KPK)

Introduction
Poverty is the Root of every economy today and every country is working to know the Procedures, policies and ways to overcome this major issue. The biggest factor which contributes in the increase of poverty is lack of financial availability which further becomes the cause of weak economic condition (Bhavnani, Chiu, Janakiram & Silarszky ,2008). Mostly the people who lives in rural areas are major victims of problem like poverty because the are unable to avail financial services(Diga, 2007).

Introduction
The Growth of affordability and coverage of mobile telecommunication services has increased its importance as a means of two way communication (Skuse & Cousins, 2007). Establishing mobile masts is a relatively inexpensive way of serving large & remote rural areas (Jensen & Robert,2007). Many Researchers have identified a link between telecommunications and economic growth in advanced economies (Colecchia & Schreyer, 2002).

Introduction
The relationship between telecommunication services like mobile phone financial services is direct with the poverty. people who are living in sustainable areas have got access to information share by such services like Telecommunication (financial services ) will be very helpful to decrease the poverty (Roman & Colle, 2002).

Statement of problem

To determine if extended telecommunication services have an effect on poverty reduction, in rural areas of KPK.

Model to be used

As the main objective is to find out the relationship between the extended telecommunication services and Poverty reduction so the Model of Research will be Casual.

Variables to be studied

The independent variable V1 is Extended Telecommunication services which are actually mobile financial services like Easy Pesa and UBL Omni in rural areas.

The dependent variable V2 is Poverty Reduction in Rural Areas of KPK, which is actually the usage of financial services by people in rural areas.

Proposed Research Hypothesis

H1: Extended Telecommunication services are reducing the Poverty in Rural Areas

Sources of Information

As the Research is conducting in the rural areas of KPK so the information will be collected from People who belong from Rural areas in KPK and are the users of Mobile Financial services in any manner.

Method of Data Collection

Interview method will be used to get information from the respondents

Instrument of Data Collection

Interview form containing relevant and easy questions about relationship of dependent & independent variables will be asked from the respondents by field researcher.

Sampling Technique & Procedure

Convenience based sampling technique will be used Every Respondent who is a user of mobile financial services in rural areas of KPK will be treated as a respondent and will be an interviewer and a source of information during research irrespective of age and gender.

Sample Size

In order to keep the Research under the scope according to given time frame sample will contain 200 Respondents of Rural Areas of KPK.

Statistical Tests to be used


Data gathered will be tested using regression model

Possible Research Findings

the possible result is expected that the extended telecommunication services helping to reduce the poverty in rural areas.
