According to the book Desire of Ages p. 70

“The child Jesus did not receive instruction in the

synagogue schools. His mother was His first human
teacher. From her lips and from the scrolls of the
prophets, He learned of heavenly things.
Jesus gathered stores of scientific knowledge from
nature. He studied the life of plants and animals, and
the life of man. From His earliest years He was
possessed of one purpose; He lived to bless others.
For this He found resources in nature; new ideas of
ways and means flashed into His mind as He studied
plant life and animal life.
Communion with God through
prayer develops the mental and
moral faculties, and the spiritual
powers strengthen as we cultivate
thoughts upon spiritual things

What was the work of Jesus

in his earliest years?

CARPENTRY
As Jesus worked in childhood and
youth, mind and body were
developed. He did not use His physical
powers recklessly, but in such a way
as to keep them in health, that He
might do the best work in every line.
He was not willing to be defective,
even in the handling of tools. He was
perfect as a workman, as He was
perfect in character.

Throughout His life on earth, Jesus was an earnest
and constant worker. He expected much; therefore
He attempted much

Jesus carried into His labor cheerfulness

and tact. It requires much patience and
spirituality to bring Bible religion into the
home life and into the workshop, to bear
the strain of worldly business, and yet
keep the eye single to the glory of God.

with God
• When Jesus was upon the earth, He
taught His disciples how to pray. He
directed them to present their daily
needs before God, and to cast all their
care upon Him. And the assurance He
gave them that their petitions should be
heard, is assurance also to us.
• Our Saviour identified Himself with our
needs and weakness, in that He
became a suppliant, a petitioner,
seeking from His Father fresh supplies
of strength, that He might come forth
braced for duty and trial. He is our
example in all things.
• He found comfort and joy in communion
with His Father. And if the Saviour of
men, the Son of God, felt the need of
prayer, how much more should feeble,
sinful mortals feel the necessity of
fervent, constant prayer

Jesus increased in
favour with
others
Christ's method alone will give true
success in reaching the people. The
Saviour mingled with men as one who
desired their good. He showed His
sympathy for them, ministered to their
needs, and won their confidence. Then
He bade them, "Follow Me."

If you do good , people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives

If you are successful you will win false friends and true enemies
---succeed anyway
The good you today will be forgotten tomorrow

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable
----be honest and frank anyway
The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shut down by the
smallest people with smallest minds---think big anyway
 People favour underdogs but follow only top dogs
—fight for some underdogs anyway
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight
—build anyway
People really need help but may attack you if you help them
--- help anyway
Give the world best you’ve got and you’ll get kicked in the teeth
----give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
