Why the need for an effective management?

You have been elected or chosen by the Lodge. You voluntarily accepted the position. It is a responsibility. It is an opportunity to be of service to the Lodge, the fraternity, and the community. It is an opportunity to practice and apply your leadership abilities. It is an opportunity for you to set a legacy. You owe it to yourself and the Brethren. To deserve a Past Venerable Masters Jewel.

Lodge Management can be difficult and easy. Difficult

the officers are busy the members are not your employees the members are not paid to do a job the members are also busy with their work the Lodge has limited financial resources the members meet once a month only it is hard to contact the members

Easy
the members are leaders and managers in their own right the members have their own resources and logistics the members will do the work voluntarily the Past Venerable Masters can assist in Lodge management

The key is to get the interest and cooperation of the members to support the present leadership.

FOUR AREAS OF CONCERN

1. Administrative Management - encompasses the successful implementation of the various meetings, projects and activities of the Lodge, and is directly the responsibility of the Presiding Master.

2. Records Management - includes the proper recording of the minutes of meetings, special events or activities, safekeeping of records, submission of the required reports to the Supreme Council, turnover of records to the new officers, and reservation of records.

3. Financial Management - involves the proper handling of Lodge funds needed to support the year long activities and projects of the Lodge. A good financial management should end the year with an excess cash balance. 4. Ritual Work Management - involves the proper performance of the various ceremonies of the Craft. Proficiency is a must for someone to be able to perform the rituals properly.
