After retirement, he developed a love for saltwater fly fishing, which is highly dependent on the tides along the coast of Florida. He went to a nearby university library looking for a book that explained the tides on earth. All he found were science books filled with calculus and advanced hydraulics. He walked across campus, knocked on the door of an oceanography professor, and asked where he could find such a book explaining the tides in plain English. To his surprise, he was told that no one had written an up-to-date explanation for laymen. And so, he decided to write one himself. Four years later, world scientific publishing company published his popular science book, “Beyond The Moon: a conversational, common sense guide to understanding the tides”. This book was a selection of the scientific American Book Club in 2006, it is sold at the midshipman store at the US Naval Academy, is currently found in about 300 college libraries, and is still available on amazonbooks in print and Kindle editions. Now, he has written a collection of nonfiction stories taken from his career in healthcare.lihat lebih sedikit
