Continental Drift adalah proses pecahnya satu dataran yang sangat luas yang terjadi dimasa
purbakala, menjadi beberapa bagian dengan ukuran lebih kecil yang saat ini kita kenal sebagai
benua. Lupakan sejenak teori ilmiah tentang penyebab perpecahan itu. Dalang utamanya adalah The
Scrat!! The Scrat masih dengan kebiasaan lamanya, mengejar biji pohon ek, yang sejak film pertama
memiliki kekuatan magis yang dapat membelah daratan. The Scrat masuk hingga ke inti bumi, yang
menjadi awal mula terjadinya continental drift.

Continental Drift mengakibatkan terjadinya pergeseran daratan, baik secara vertical maupun
horizontal. Ini mengakibatkan Manny (Ray Romano) terpisah dari istrinya Ellie (Queen Latifah) serta
anak perempuannya Peaches (Keke Palmer). Manny bersama Sid (John Leguizamo), Diego (Denis
Leary), beserta Nenek Sid (Wanda Sykes) yang ditinggal paksa oleh anaknya, berlayar mengarungi
samudera untuk mencari daratan yang baru dengan harapan dapat kembali bertemu keluarga
mereka. Namun misi itu tidaklah mudah. Mereka bertemu Captain Gutt (Peter Dinklage), penguasa
samudera. Celakanya tingkah konyol yang mereka lakukan pada akhirnya menimbulkan
permasalahan dengan Captain Gutt. Ini juga mempertemukan Diego dan Shira (Jennifer Lopez), yang
merupakan assisten dari Captain Gutt
Apa itu Ice Age bagi saya? Ice Age adalah "Sid dan Scrat". Duo S ini menurut saya menjadi kunci bagi
Ice Age. Jika lelucon yang kedua karakter ini berikan tidak berhasil dieksekusi dengan baik, maka film
ini selesai. Dan yap, mereka kali ini kurang sukses. Ada beberapa lelucon dari Sid yang berhasil,
namun itu minor dan sisanya terasa datar. Begitu pula The Scrat, yang memberikan impresi yang
besar di awal film, namun seolah hilang dan baru terasa kehadirannya ketika ia masuk ke Scratlantis.

Rasa yang diberikan oleh Mike Thurmeier yang kali ini berduet dengan Steve Martino masih sama
dengan Ice Age 3. Memang terdapat beberapa pesan yang bisa dibilang cukup berhasil dalam
penyampaiannya. Dari bagaimana Manny mendapatkan pengalaman bersikap sebagai seorang ayah
yang dapat menyenangkan anak perempuannya, hingga Peaches yang belajar apa arti sahabat yang
sebenarnya ketika ia mulai meninggalkan Louis (Josh Gad) untuk bergaul dengan Ethan (Aubrey
Graham). Namun itu tidak cukup untuk menutupi kelemahan film ini. Mengekploitasi kekonyolan
dari masing-masing karakter, tanpa disertai cerita yang benar-benar kuat dan cenderung mudah
ditebak.

Terdapat beberapa bintang baru di jajaran pengisi suara film ini. Peter Dinklage, Jennifer Lopez,
Aubrey Graham (Drake), Nicki Minaj, Kunal Nayyar, dan Nick Frost, bergabung dengan Simon Pegg
yang telah hadir sejak film ketiga. Peter Dinklage memberikan impresi yang terbaik diantara pengisi
suara baru. Dan yang paling mudah ditebak adalah Nicki Minaj. Ketika mendengar suara Steffie yang
merupakan sahabat Ethan untuk pertama kali, saya yakin itu Nicki Minaj, dan ternyata benar.
Hahaha. Yang sedikit mengecoh adalah suara Flynn, yang awalnya saya mengira diisi oleh Stephen
Fry. Dan hebatnya saya tidak sadar ada Jennifer Lopez dan Drake pada film ini hingga film berakhir
dan credit dimulai.

Overall, film ini menyajikan tontonan yang cukup menghibur. Seperti yang saya jelaskan diawal, film
ini bagi saya adalah Sid dan Scrat. Jadi saya memang sudah siap jika harus menyaksikan film animasi
dengan cerita yang lemah disertai humor yang konyol dengan cita rasa yang sama dengan

pendahulunya. Ekspektasi saya sejak awal memang hanya berada dikisaran 6,5 7. Kemunculan
Brave dan Madagascar 3 belum lama sebelum film ini dirilis, menyebabkan atensi saya sedikit
berkurang. Meskipun detail dan music yang diberikan tidak sebaik Brave dan Madagascar 3, namun
sentuhan warna serta karakter baru yang diciptakan menurut saya sangat baik, memberikan sedikit
nilai plus bagi film ini dari segi visual. Alur cerita yang mengalir tanpa hambatan, menjadikan film ini
tidak memberikan kesempatan kepada rasa bosan untuk hadir. Tingkah konyol dari para karakter
yang terus disuntikkan sejak awal hingga akhir, menjaga tensi film cukup stabil, meskipun eksekusi
humornya sendiri kurang maksimal. Tidak jelek memang, namun jika anda menjadikan Brave (dan
mungkin Madagascar 3) sebagai acuan film animasi yang baik untuk summer kali ini, maka film akan
berada dibawah standar tersebut. Tidak layak jika membandingkan Ice Age: Continental Drift dengan
kedua film tersebut, bahkan dengan The Pirates! Band of Misfits. Membuka film ini dengan The
Simpsons sendiri merupakan keputusan yang baik.

Ice age 4 continental drift

Continental Drift is the rupture of a vast inland that occurred during the days of
ancient, into pieces with a size smaller now known as continents. Forget the scientific
theories about the cause of the split. The Scrat is the main mastermind !! The Scrat is still the
old habits, the pursuit of an acorn, which since the first film to have magical powers that can
divide the land. The Scrat entry to the earth's core, which marked the beginning of the
continental drift.

Continental Drift resulted in a shift in the mainland, either vertically or horizontally.

This resulted in Manny (Ray Romano) is separate from his wife Ellie (Queen Latifah) and
daughter Peaches (Keke Palmer). Manny along with Sid (John Leguizamo), Diego (Denis
Leary), Sid and his grandmother (Wanda Sykes) forcibly abandoned by his son, sail across
oceans in search of a new land in hopes of returning to see their families. But the mission was
not easy. They met Captain Gutt (Peter Dinklage), ruler of the ocean. Unfortunately antics
they did eventually result in problems with Captain Gutt. It also brings Diego and Shira
(Jennifer Lopez), who is the assistant of Captain Gutt.

What is Ice Age for me? Ice Age is "Sid and Scrat". Duo S I think this is the key to
the Ice Age. If the joke that these two characters give unsuccessful executed properly, then
the film is finished. And yes, they are less successful this time. There are some jokes from
Sid successful, but it was minor and the rest was flat. Similarly, The Scrat, which gives a
great impression at the beginning of the film, but it was as lost and we feel his presence when
he entered Scratlantis.

The flavors were given by Mike Thurmeier this time a duet with Steve Martino is still
the same as the Ice Age 3. Indeed there are some messages that can be fairly successful in its
delivery. Of how Manny get the experience to be as a father who can please his daughter,
until Peaches are learning what the real meaning of friends when he began to leave Louis
(Josh Gad) to hang out with Ethan (Aubrey Graham). But it is not enough to cover the
weaknesses of this film. Exploit the absurdity of each character, without which the story is
really strong and tend to be easy to guess.

There are some new star in the ranks of the voice of this film. Peter Dinklage, Jennifer
Lopez, Aubrey Graham (Drake), Nicki Minaj, Kunal Nayyar, and Nick Frost, Simon Pegg
join that has been present since the third movie. Peter Dinklage gives the impression that the
best among the new voice cast. And the most predictable is Nicki Minaj. When he heard the
sound of Steffie who is a friend of Ethan for the first time, I'm sure it's Nicki Minaj, and it's
true. Hahaha. Its a little misleading is the voice of Flynn, which I initially thought filled by
Stephen Fry. And incredibly I did not realize there was Jennifer Lopez and Drake in the film
until the film ended and the credits started.

Overall, this film presents a fairly entertaining spectacle. As I explained earlier, this
film to me is Sid and Scrat. So I was already ready if you have to watch an animated movie
with a weak story with silly humor with a taste similar to its predecessor. My expectations
from the beginning it just be in the range of 6.5 - 7. The Emerging Brave and Madagascar 3
recently before the film was released, causing my attention slightly reduced. Although the
details and the given music not as a Brave and Madagascar 3, but a touch of color and created
a new character I think is very good, giving a bit of a plus for this film in terms of visuals.
The story line that flows unimpeded, making the film does not provide the opportunity for
boredom to attend. Antics of the characters that continuously injected from the beginning to
the end, keeping the tension of the film is quite stable, although less than the maximum
execution own humor. Not bad indeed, but if you make the Brave (and possibly Madagascar
3) as a reference for a good animated movie for this summer, then the film would be under
those standards. Not worth it to compare Ice Age: Continental Drift with the second film,
even with The Pirates! Band of Misfits. Opening the film with The Simpsons is itself a good
decision.
