Multiplexing
Multiplexing is the set of techniques that allows the
simultaneous transmission of multiple signals across a single
data link.

Sampling
This involves finding its amplitude at discrete
time intervals.
In 1928, Harry Nyquist showed mathematically
that it is possible to reconstruct a band-limited
analog signal from periodic samples, as long as
th sampling
the
li rate
t is
i att least
l
t twice
t i the
th
frequency of the highest-frequency component
of the signal.
If the sampling rate is too low, a form of
distortion called aliasing or foldover distortion
is produced.
