ABSTRACT
CORRELATION OF DIET COMPLIANCE WITH BLOOD SUGAR CONTROLLED
OF DIABETES MELITUS CLIENT IN POLYCLINIC DEPARTEMENT OF
INTERNAL DISEASE I GENERAL HOSPITAL WEST NUSA TENGGARA

A diet that is not good in people with diabetes mellitus can affect blood sugar levels
resulting in increased client prevalence of diabetes mellitus is high.
The purpose of this research was to determine the correlations of a diet compliance
with control of blood sugar levels diabetic client.
The population in the study were patients who come to visit / outpatient treatment at
least 3 times and had no complications, with a population of 430 people. This study used an
observational design cross sectional analytic techniques. Total sample of 33 people with the
sampling technique used in this study is a non probability sampling type of accidental
sampling. analysis technic of the data using descriptive statistics.
The results of bivariate analysis using Chi-square obtained the highest percentage of
poorly controlled blood sugar levels with diet disobedient at 48.50%. 0004 acquired a
significance value (p <0.05) that demonstrated an association between a diet adherence with
blood sugar levels of diabetes mellitus clients.
The results of this study indicate that there is a tendency of the respondent to comply
with diet and regular diet has controlled blood sugar, while those who did not adhere to diet
and irregular eating patterns tend to have uncontrolled blood sugar.
It is expected the participation of nurses and other health professionals provide health
education about diet and a good diet in patients with diabetes mellitus. And the role of the
family in terms of diet and dietary control of diabetes mellitus clients.
