BAB I
PENDAHULUAN
1.1 Latar Belakang
Awal lahirnya mesin CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) bermula
dari 1952 yang dikembangkan oleh John Pearseon dari Institut Teknologi
Massachusetts, atas nama Angkatan Udara Amerika Serikat. Semula proyek
tersebut diperuntukkan untuk membuat benda kerja khusus yang rumit. Semula
perangkat mesin CNC memerlukan biaya yang tinggi dan volume unit pengendali
yang besar. Pada tahun 1973, mesin CNC masih sangat mahal sehingga masih
sedikit perusahaan yang mempunyai keberanian dalam mempelopori investasi
dalam teknologi ini. Dari tahun 1975, produksi mesin CNC mulai berkembang
pesat. Perkembangan ini dipacu oleh perkembangan mikroprosesor, sehingga
volume unit pengendali dapat lebih ringkas. Tujuan utama dari sistem CNC adalah
menggantikan sebanyak mungkin perangkat keras (hardware) dari mesin NC
Konvensional dengan perangkat lunak (software), sehingga dimungkinkan untuk
menyimpan program, mengedit program, pengecekan program dalam komputer
dan lain sebagainya.
Dewasa ini penggunaan mesin CNC hampir terdapat di segala bidang.
Dari bidang pendidikan dan riset yang mempergunakan alat-alat demikian
dihasilkan berbagai hasil penelitian yang bermanfaat yang tidak terasa sudah
banyak digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat banyak.

Dalam pelaksanaan praktikum ini memiliki beberapa tujuan yaitu:


Penulis dapat mengetahui apa itu mesin CNC dan cara pensimulasian
program mesin CNC.
Penulis mendapatkan pengalaman dalam pengerjaan proses produksi
khususnya pada pensimulasian program mesin CNC.
Saat memasuki dunia kerja penulis tidak canggung lagi terhadap
pensimulasian program mesin CNC.
Supaya penulis dapat membanding antara teori di kelas dengan pratikum yang
dilaksanakan.

1.3 Manfaat
Adapun manfaat yang dapat diambil oleh mahasiswa dari pratikum mesin
CNC adalah sebagai berikut:

CNC simulator.
2. penulis dapat mengetahui apa saja yang harus di perhatikan dalam pembuatan
program CNC.
3. penulis bisa mempunyai skill dan keterampilan dalam mengoperasikan CNC
simulator .

1.4 Sistematika Penulisan


Dalam penulisan laporan ini sistimatika penulisannya adalah sebagai

setelah melakukan praktikum prses produksi II serta beberapa
saran yang dapat diberikan untuk kesempurnaan untuk
melakukan praktikum berikutnya.

BAB II
TEORI DASAR
2.1 Pengertian Mesin CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled)
CNC singkatan dari Computer Numerically Controlled, merupakan mesin
perkakas yang dilengkapi dengan sistem mekanik dan kontrol berbasis komputer
yang mampu membaca instruksi kode N, G, F, T, dan lain-lain, dimana kode-kode
tersebut akan menginstruksikan ke mesin CNC agar bekerja sesuai dengan
program benda kerja yang akan dibuat. Secara umum cara kerja mesin perkakas
CNC tidak berbeda dengan mesin perkakas konvensional. Fungsi CNC dalam hal
ini lebih banyak menggantikan pekerjaan operator dalam mesin perkakas
konvensional. Misalnya pekerjaan setting tool atau mengatur gerakan pahat
sampai pada posisi siap memotong, gerakan pemotongan dan gerakan kembali
keposisi awal, dan lain-lain.
Demikian pula dengan pengaturan kondisi pemotongan (kecepatan potong,
kecepatan makan dan kedalaman pemotongan) serta fungsi pengaturan yang lain
seperti penggantian pahat, pengubahan transmisi daya (jumlah putaran poros
utama), dan arah putaran poros utama, pengekleman, pengaturan cairan pendingin
dan sebagainya. Mesin perkakas CNC dilengkapi dengan berbagai alat potong
yang dapat membuat benda kerja secara presisi dan dapat melakukan interpolasi
yang diarahkan secara numerik (berdasarkan angka). Parameter sistem operasi
CNC dapat diubah melalui program perangkat lunak (software load program)
yang sesuai. Tingkat ketelitian mesin CNC lebih akurat hingga ketelitian
seperseribu millimeter, karena penggunaan ballscrew pada setiap poros
transportiernya. Ballscrew bekerja seperti lager yang tidak memiliki
kelonggaran/spelling namun dapat bergerak dengan lancar. Pada awalnya mesin
CNC masih menggunakan memori berupa kertas berlubang sebagai media untuk
mentransfer kode G dan M ke sistem kontrol. Setelah tahun 1950, ditemukan
metode baru mentransfer data dengan menggunakan kabel RS232, floppy disks,
dan terakhir oleh KomputerJaringan Kabel (Computer Network Cables) bahkan
bisa dikendalikan melalui internet. Akhir-akhir ini mesin-mesin CNC telah
berkembang secara menakjubkan sehingga telah mengubah industri pabrik yang
selama ini menggunakan tenaga manusia menjadi mesin-mesom otomatik.
Dengan telah berkembangnya Mesin CNC, maka benda kerja yang rumit
sekalipun dapat dibuat secara mudah dalam jumlah yang banyak. Selama ini
pembuatan komponen/suku cadang suatu mesin yang presisi dengan mesin

perkakas manual tidaklah mudah, meskipun dilakukan oleh seorang operator


mesin perkakas yang mahir sekalipun. Penyelesaiannya memerlukan waktu lama.
Bila ada permintaan konsumen untuk membuat komponen dalam jumlah banyak
dengan waktu singkat, dengan kualitas sama baiknya, tentu akan sulit dipenuhi
bila menggunakan perkakas manual. Apalagi bila bentuk benda kerja yang dipesan
lebih rumit, tidak dapat diselesaikan dalam waktu singkat. Secara ekonomis biaya
produknya akan menjadi mahal, hingga sulit bersaing dengan harga di pasaran.
Tuntutan konsumen yang menghendaki kualitas benda kerja yang presisi,
berkualitas sama baiknya, dalam waktu singkat dan dalam jumlah yang banyak,
akan lebih mudah dikerjakan dengan mesin perkakas CNC (Computer
Numerlcally Controlled), yaitu mesin yang dapat bekerja melalui pemogramman
yang dilakukan dan dikendalikan melalui komputer.
Mesin CNC dapat bekerja secara otomatis atau semiotomatis setelah
diprogram terlebih dahulu melalui komputer yang ada. Program yang dimaksud
merupakan program membuat benda kerja yang telah direncanakan atau dirancang
sebelumnya. Sebelum benda kerja tersebut dieksikusi atau dikerjakan oleh mesin
CNC, sebaikanya program tersebut di cek berulang-ualang agar program benarbenar telah sesuai dengan bentuk benda kerja yang diinginkan, serta benar-benar
dapat dikerjakan oleh mesin CNC. Pengecekan tersebut dapat melalui layar
monitor yang terdapat pada mesin atau bila tidak ada fasilitas cheking melalui
monitor (seperti pada CNC TU EMCO 2A/3A) dapat pula melalui plotter yang
dipasang pada tempat dudukan pahat/palsu frais. Setelah program benar-benar
telah berjalan seperti rencana, baru kemudian dilaksanakan/dieksekusi oleh mesin
CNC

2.2 Keuntungan dan Kerugian Mesin CNC


Faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan mesin perkakas NC ini lebih
Menguntungkan adalah sebagai berikut:
a. Laju produksi cepat.
b. Keakuratan pada lebih besar dan repeatabilas.
c. Menurunkan tingkat tarip sisa (pemborosan komponen).
d. Mengurangi kebutuhan pemeriksaan.
e. Tidak banyak memakan tempat/ ruangan.
f. Level keterampilan yang dibutuhan operator dikurangi.
Adapun kerugian yang dapat ditimbulkan oleh mesin perkakas NC ini
adalah sebagai berikut:
a. Pengerjaan komponen dengan mesin yang mudah menjadi sulit karena
menggunakan format yang rumit.
b. Modal yang ditanamkan mengalami peningkatan.
c. Peralatan sederhana tetap diperlukan
d. Dibutuhkan tenaga ahli yang berfungsi untuk memprogram peralatan NC.

2.3 Jenis Mesin CNC


Di industri menengah dan besar, akan banyak dijumpai penggunaan mesin
CNC dalam mendukung proses produksi. Secara garis besar, mesin CNC dibagi
dalam 2 (dua) macam, yaitu :
a. Mesin bubut CNC

2.4 Cara Mengoparasikan Mesin CNC


Secara umum, cara mengoperasikan mesin CNC dengan cara
memasukkan perintah numeric melalaui tombol-tombol yang tersedia pada panel
instrument di tiap-tiap mesin. Setiap jenis mesin CNC mempunyai karakteristik
tersendiri sesuai dengan pabrik yang membuat mesin tersebut. Namun demikian
secara garis besar dari karakteristik cara mengoperasikan mesin CNC dapat
dilakukan dengan dua macam cara, yaitu :
a. Sistem Absolut
Pada sistem ini titik awal penempatan alat potong yang digunakan
sebagai acuan adalah menetapkan titik referensi yang berlaku tetap selama
proses operasi mesin berlangsung. Untuk mesin bubut, titik referensinya
diletakkan pada sumbu (pusat) benda kerja yang akan dikerjakan pada
bagian ujung. Sedangkan pada mesin frais, titik referensinya diletakkan
pada pertemuan antara dua sisi pada benda kerja yang akan dikerjakan.

b. Sistem Incremental
Pada system ini titik awal penempatan yang digunakan sebagai acuan
adalah selalu berpindah sesuai dengan titik actual yang dinyatakan
terakhir. Untuk mesin bubut maupun mesin frais diberlakukan cara yang
sama. Setiap kali suatu gerakan pada proses pengerjaan benda kerja
berakhir, maka titik akhir dari gerakan alat potong itu dianggap sebagai
titik awal gerakan alat potong pada tahap berikutnya.

Sejalan dengan berkembangnya kebutuhan akan berbagai produk industri
yang beragam dengan tingkat kesulitan yang bervariasi, maka telah dikembangkan
berbagai variasi dari mesin CNC. Hal ini dimaksud untuk memenuhi kebutuhan
jenis pekerjaan dengan tingkat kesulitan yang tinggi. Berikut ini tahapan
perkembangan dan berbagai variasi mesin CNC.

Era 1960-an mulai dipelajari oleh U.S. Airforce untuk merancang


komponen pesawat terbang.Kemampuan ini dapat menghemat biaya untuk

pemesinan presisi berbentuk contour.


Pada 1947, Parson mengemukakan ide pembuatan kurva data 3-axis secara

otomatis dan menggunakan data untuk mengkontrol mesin.


Parson menggunakan punched card untuk mengontrol posisi mesin.
Pada 1949, Parson dan U.S. Airforce menciptakan prototipe programmable

milling machine.
Pada 1952, awal mulanya ditampilkan mesin milling NC three-axis

Cincinnati Hydrotel.
Dewasa ini, pasaran mesin NC di Amerika masih di dominasi oleh mesin
buatan Jepang

2.5 Software Mesin CNC


Dalam proses pengoperasian mesin CNC menggunakan suatu program
yang dianamakan CNC simulator software ini berfungsi sebagai perangkat input
bagi mesin CNC sangat penting peranannya untuk memperoleh kinerja mesin
CNC.

2.6 Kode Standar Mesin CNC


Mesin CNC hanya dapat membaca kode standar yang telah disepakati oleh
industri yang membuat mesin CNC. Dengan kode standar tersebut, pabrik mesin
CNC dapat menggunakan PC sebagai input yang diproduksi sendiri atau yang
direkomendasikan. Kode standar pada mesin CNC yaitu :

BAB III
ALAT DAN BAHAN
3.1 Alat
Adapun alat yang digunakan selama praktikum proses produksi II, yaitu
simulasi program CNC, antara lain :
1. Satu unit laptop

Berfungsi untuk media pembuatan program CNC dan pensimulasian
program CNC.
2. Peralatan gambar
Berfungsi untuk menggambar benda kerja hasil simulasi.

3. Modul praktikum
Berfungsi untuk membantu pembuatan program CNC.

3.2 Bahan
Adapun bahan yang digunakan selama praktikum teknik proses produksi
II, yaitu pensimulasian program CNC adalah :

BAB IV
PROSEDUR KERJA

4.1 Program CNC bubut (Turning).


Pertama kali yang harus dilakukan menentukan program apa yang ingin
dibuat (Turning/Miling) yaitu dengan cara memilih pada menu Screen.

Sebelum membuat program CNC perlu di perhatikan dimensi bendakerja yang
akan di buat yaitu dengan cara memilih pada menu Simulate.

Masukan nilai X untuk ukuran diameter benda kerja.
Masukan nilai Y untuk ukuran panjang benda kerja. Berikan ukuran lebih untuk
bagian yang akan di jepit oleh Chuck.
1. Membuat kepala program

Kepala program berisi tentang pemasangan spesimen(G21),


menentukan titik datum(G90), menghidupkan mesin (M13) ,kecepatan
coollant(S100), memasang tool (M06 T..?) , menghidupkan coolant(M08).
Harus di perhatikan setiap pembuatan program harus di awali nomor
program dan di awali tanda titik koma (;).

2. Membuat badan program
Badan program berisikan tentang program pemakanan benda kerja dengan
menggunakan kode G dan memasukan nilai koordinat X dan Y. sebelum
melakukan pemakanan, letakan pahat di ujung benda kerja dengan
memberi jarak agar tidak bersentuhan langsung dengan benda kerja.
Pemakanan benda kerja dilakukan secara bertahap minimal 2 milimeter
menghindari kerusakan pada tool.

Kode G00 berfungsi untuk memposisikan pahat terhadap benda
kerja. Gerakan ini bisa di lakukan dengan menggunakan perintah
absolute G90 atau incremental G91, G00 dapat bergerak dengan cepat
atau dapat di atur oleh handle Ravid traverse yaitu pngatur langkah
kecepatan gerak pahat. Besaran lintasan dari ravid traverse di buat
dalam bentuk persentase antara 25% , 50%, dan100% dari langkah
semestinya tergantung mesin.

b. Fungsi G01
Kode G01 berfungsi untuk melakukan pemotongan benda kerja. Gerakan
ini bisa juga dilakukan dengan menggunakan perintah koordinat absolute G90
atau incremental G91. Gerakan G01 harus diikuti dengan kecepatan langkah
proses pemotongan. Kecepatan langkah pemotongan atau kecepatan makan dari
pahat biasanya di lambangkan dengan huruf F atau Feeding. Proses lintasan G01
dapat dilihat pada gambar. Missal F dimasukan nilai 100 mm/menit

Pahat bergerak dan berhenti di nilai X. Nilai X adalah ukuran benda kerja
yang tidak di kenakan pemakanan. Pada dasarnya gerakan dari G00 dan G01
adalah gerak lintasan dari pahat adalah lurus, baik dari sumbuh X, sumbuh Y atau
sumbuh Z. perbedaan dari keduanya adalah jika kita menggunakan keduanya
adalah jika kita menggunakan G01 maka dalam pembuatan programnya harus di

tambahkan unsure kecepatan langkah pemotongan/kecepatan makanpahat (F)


sedangkan G00 tidak menggunakan (F). agar mudah di ingat perhatikan cara

4.2 Program CNC frais (milling).


Pertama kali yang harus dilakukan menentukan program apa yang ingin
dibuat (Turning/Miling) yaitu dengan cara memilih pada menu Screen.

Masukan nilai X untuk ukuran panjang benda kerja, masukan nilai Y untuk
ukuran lebar benda kerja dan masukan nilai Z untuk ketinggian/tebal benda kerja.
1. Membuat kepala program
Kepala program berisi (G90) untuk pemograman nilai absolut,
menentukan titik datum(G94),(54) zero point , menghidupSkan mesin
(M13) ,kecepatan coollant(S100), memasang tool (M06 T..?) ,
menghidupkan coolant(M08). Harus di perhatikan setiap pembuatan
program harus di awali nomor program dan di awali tanda titik koma (;).

2. Membuat badan program


Badan program berisikan tentang program pemakanan benda kerja dengan
menggunakan kode G dan memasukan nilai koordinat X , Y dan Z.
sebelum melakukan pemakanan, letakan pahat di ujung benda kerja
dengan memberi jarak agar tidak bersentuhan langsung dengan benda
kerja. Pemakanan benda kerja dilakukan secara bertahap minimal 5
milimeter menghindari kerusakan pada tool.
a. Fungsi G00
Kode G00 berfungsi untuk memposisikan pahat terhadap benda

KESIMPULAN DAN SARAN

6.1 Kesimpulan
1. Dalam pembuatan program CNC di butuhkan ketelitian dalam
penempatan jalur gerak makan tool.
2. Kedalaman pemakanan minimal 5 milimeter.
3. Penempatan jalur pemakanan harus di perhatikan dan diperhitungkan
karena dengan penempatan jalur gerak makan tool yang benar dapat
mempersingkat langkah kerja program.
4. Perhitungan koordinat harus diperhitungkan dengan benar, jika tidak
program tidak akan jalan.

6.2 Saran
Adapun saran yang dapat d ambil penulis selama pratikum proses
produksi II, CNC simulator adalah :
Diharapkan agar mesin CNC di perbaiki agar praktikan bisa langsung
praktek menggunakan mesin CNC.
