ABSTRACT
The Modeling and calculation of coal reserves volume is one of the activities
that must be implemented during the exploration stage. One of the calculation
methods of coal reserves volume that commonly used is Cut and Fill method. In the
modeling and calculation of coal reserves, many company can use some softwares
such as Minescape, Surpac, 12D and Minex. Therefore some special examinations
are required to calculate the volume of coal reserves and coal modeling to use the
software. This thesis discussed about the modeling and calculation of coal reserves
using Minescape Mincom version 4.118. The software was choosed because of its
overplus that is able to provide maximum results of coal reserves from the
exploration stage to mine production, also it is able to model the coal reserves and
visualize the actual coal reserves courses.
The data of modeling and the calculation of coal reserves volume are
obtained from PT. Multi Prima Universal, Muara Bakah, Kalimantan Tengah that
contains original topographic contour data, lithology data, quality data, and survey
data that has been measured directly in the field. These data are processed using
Minescape Mincom version 4.118. These data are extracted into straatmodel and
producing drill points distributions, cropline constructions and stripping ratio, the
modeling of coal, the final construction of the wall, the construction of solid pit
potential and results attributes of the calculation of coal reserves volume. The
calculation of coal reserves volume is using two values of stripping ratio which is SR
4 and SR 5. The calculation area of coal reserves volume is divided by out of
boundary from dominance mining of PT. Multi Prima Universal.
From calculation result get total calculation of coal reserves volume with SR
4 is equal to 31,046,626.4 tons with overburden volume is 14,077,040.3 BCM, and
interburden volume is 97,616,017.5 BCM and size of calculating areas is 504.1
hectares. Whereas using the value of SR 5 the total calculation of coal reserves
obtained is 44,357,965.9 tons with overburden volume is 20,815,330.5 BCM, and
interburden volume is 194,575,305 BCM and size of calculating areas is 732.2
hectares. The difference in calculation of coal reserves volume by using two values
of the stripping ratio is equal to 13,311,339.5 tons with the percentage of 30% of coal
volume by using stripping ratio 5. The modeling of coal using Minescape able to
give visualization of coal seam where located on drill hole, showing coordinate
easting, northing, elevation and thickness of seam coal, from that visualization able
to give reference for mine plan.
