Ametropia (mata dengan kelainan refraksi) berasal dari bahasa Yunani; ametros, y

ang berarti tidak seimbang/sebanding, dan opsis, adalah penglihatan. Jadi ametro
pia adalah suatu keadaan mata dengan kelainan refraksi dimana mata yang dalam
keadaan tanpa akomodasi atau istirahat memberikan bayangan sinar sejajar pada fo
kus yang tidak terletak pada retina.
Ametropia dibedakan menjadi 4 yaitu:
a.
Ametropi oksial: Ametropia yang terjadi akibat sumbu optik bola mata leb
ih panjang atau pendek.
b.
Ametropia refraktif: Ametropia akibat kelainan system pembiasan sinar di
dalam mata.
c.
Ametropia kurvatur: Ametropia akibat kelengkungan kornea atau lensa yan
g tidak normal.
d.
Ametropia indeks: Ametropia karena indeks bias abnormal di dalam mata.

adalah kondisi dimana ukuran mata kanan berbeda 3 dioptri atau lebih dengan mata
kiri
kondisi antimetropia
adalah kondisi dimana ukuran mata kanan dan mata kiri beda tanda
