ABSTRACT
In the open pit mine planning, in addition to mineral reserves factors, mining
technical, economic, environmental and geoteknical factors includid slope stability is an
important factor in open pit mining operations. Mine slope stability is determined by the
geotechnical conditions, coulrius: the physical and mechanical properties of rocks, soil
and water level conditions in the form of geomorpholosy, discontinuities, rock mass
structure, etc. design the open pit slope geometry must be well informed on the
geotechnical and geological to aspeakan needed to underslood that can be predicted
slope, slope height and width of a stable bench for mining activities. Accident that
causes by open pit slope instability will have an impact on occupational safety and
health, equipment, companies and the environment that could cause harm to the
company and hinder the process of mineral production. This study aims to assess the
open pit slope stability by using the optimum approach to the study of geotechnical rock
mass classification method based on RMR with 5 parameters: uniaxial compressive
strength, RQD, spacing field discontinuities ( spacing stocky ), condition of
discontinuities and groundwater conditions.
To find the slope angle used hubunganan RMR value with a slope angle are
suggested by SMR . Testing of physical and mechanical properties of rocks in the form
of the physical properties of the test to get the parameter index properties and
mechanical properties test a uniaxial compressive strength test to get the parameters of
rock compressive strength, direct shear tests to obtain parameters of cohesion, friction
angle in both peak and residual as input data in slope stability analysis by using the
numerical limit equilibrium method that can show the value of the slope angle, slope
height, width bench and the value of the safety factor of the slope .
The results recommend that the slope angle based on RMR and SMR
classification methods and numerical analysis method for single slope is GT - MT - 03
with 75o slope angle, slope height of 20 m with FK 1,304 . GT - MT - 06 with 65o slope
angle, slope height of 15 m with FK 1.366 and for the GT - 08 MT – 65o slope angle,
slope height of 20 m with FK 1,347. Overall slope recommendation for open pit mine
plan at Mutiara Bukit Suharto block is 60 m high overall slope, slope angle 65 o, bench
width of 20 m with a single high slopes that form the overall slope of 15 m with a safety
factor ( FK ) between 1,520 and 1,713.
