Advanced tunnel was prepared for the seam of A coal mining at Sigalut
underground mining. To dig the rock at advanced tunnel LBU I SG it was used
conventional method that is drilling and blasting, then Roadheader Dosco MK-2A for
mucking. The dig operation has continuous mutual work stage, especially the stage related
with the tunnel advancement efficiency that is blasting and drilling performance.
From the result of observation and extraction of field collecting, it can be known
some parameters of geometry blasting that is the burden is 0,6 m, the spacing is 0,6 m, the
average of blasthole depth is 0,96 m, the average of stemming is 0,3 m, the number of
blasthole is 24 holes, the diameter of blasthole is 40 mm (same for each round) and the
3
average of specific charge is 1,45 kg/m . Application of this geometry blasting produces
average advance 0,75 m for once blasting. This matter of course did not meet the target of
8 m advance per month (when done 8 times of blasting in a month).
Geometry blasting which is usually applied at field also produces the size of rock
fragmentation that is > 0,3 m as many 40 – 55 %. This fragmentation size is rather difficult
for loading by loader Dosco MK-2A because the width of conveyor at the loader is 0,3 m.
Besides, this fragmentation size percentage makes loader Dosco MK-2A worked longer to
break the rock. From measuring result, the average of LBU tunnel width is 4,4 m and 3 m
of heigth.
From theoritical calculation result, it can be got that the burden for cut area at
second square is 0,106 m, at third square is 0,224 m, at fourth square is 0,475 m, whereas
the burden for floor holes area is 0,85 m, at wall holes is 0,7 m, at roof holes is 0,7 m and
at horizontal stoping holes is 0,85 m. The spacing for floor holes, wall holes, roof holes and
horizontal stoping holes are same that is 0,95 m theoretically. Then the stemming for cut
area at second square is 0,053 m, at third square is 0,112 m, at fourth square is 0,23 m
whereas the stemming for floor holes area is 0,17 m and for wall holes, roof holes and
horizontal stoping holes are same that is 0,43 m.
Blasthole diameter used is the same as the first condition that is 40 mm and at this
design it was used 50 mm of empty hole. The length of rod drill is 1,5 m with the maximal
of blasthole depth can be drilled is 1,4 m, so that it was obtained the advance is 1,33 m.
The wide of tunnel from this blasting geometry design is 4,75 m and 3,32 m of heigth and
the number of blasthole is 31 holes so that it was obtained the specific charge is 1,11
3
kg/m . The average size of rock fragmentation predicated is 12,77 cm.
So, this blasting geometry design can meet the target of 8 m advance per month
and is able to reduce fragmentation size to become smaller than 0,3 m. Besides, it is more
efficient because the specific charge at this design is smaller than the first condition.
