SECTION B

1. A student carried out an experiment to investigate the relationship between the temperature of a solid
when heated and its mass, m. The student used the same immersion heater to heat up the different
masses of the solid for the same length of time. The initial temperature, θ 0 , of the solid which is
constant and the final temperature, θ of the solid after being heated are recorded. The results of the

experiment is shown in a graph of θ against in Diagram 1.
