 Penjelasan atas reorganisasi ACI 318M-14

• Tujuan utama dari langkah reorganisasi sederhana, yaitu: memudahkan

penggunaan ACI 318M-14 bagi enjinir;
• Pengaturan penyajian baru memberikan persyaratan disain dan detailing
yang lengkap dari elemen struktur dalam satu Pasal, dan untuk tiap tipe
elemen disediakan satu Pasal khusus;
• Karena hampir semua langkah disain dan detailing menyangkut satu tipe
elemen, pengaturan penyajian yang didasarkan pada elemen ini memberikan
kemudahan untuk menemukan informasi dari ketentuan standar terkait de-
ngan lebih cepat;

Penjelasan lanjut …..

• Pengaturan penyajian yang intuitif ini memberikan

enjinir perencana keya-kinan bahwa segala masalah
yang terkait dengan keperluan perencanaan satu
elemen struktur telah disiapkan dengan lengkap;
• Dalam 318M-11, tidak dijumpai adanya kemudahan
diatas. Padahal keya-kinan bahwa semua hal telah
diexplore dan disajikan ketentuan Standar-nya
secara lengkap sangat penting bagi perencana;
• Pengaturan penyajian yang baru juga memudahkan
penambahan informasi baru tanpa mengganggu
penyajian ketentuan Standar yang sudah ada;
• Ke-27 Pasal kajian Standar dikelompokkan menjadi
10 kelompok besar.

• Pasal 1 diberi judul “Ketentuan Umum”, diurai-
kan selanjutnya dalam 10 Sub-Pasal. ACI 318M General
-14 selanjutnya mengatur keterkaitan Code ini
dengan Code Bangunan Gedung dan menetap- • 1: General

requirements, the beams chapter now contains
them all either directly or provides a reference
to what are called toolbox chapters.

• Here is an example to show you the

toolbox chapter concept. Part of the beam
chapter is the requirement to verify that
design strength exceeds required strength.
The beam chapter directs you to a specific
spot with the toolbox chapter called
“sectional strength” to calculate moment
strength. Once you calculated the moment
strength, you leave the toolbox chapter
and simply return to the beam chapter.

Construction
• 26: Construction Documents and
Inspection
• 318M is written to the engineer, not the
contractor.
• Construction requirements must be
communicated on the construction
documents.
• In 318M-14, all construction requirements
are gathered together in Chapter 26.
• The construction documents and inspection chapter clears up
something that has been an issue between engineers and
contractors for a while. 318 has always been written to the
engineer and not the contractor. However, specifications will
often require the contractor to meet requirements in 318. This is
difficult for contractors to do because they don’t have the
background on the design decisions that is required to properly
interpret and implement the provisions. 318 has always required
the engineer to communicate field requirements to the
construction and inspection team, but the passive language
sometimes created misunderstandings.
• 318-14 collects all of these requirements and puts them in one
chapter. This becomes a checklist for the engineer to use to be
sure he includes all of the required information on his
construction documents.
