Price dalam Bahasa Indonesia berarti “Harga”. Harga suatu barang yang dijual di suatu
tempat atau pasar bisa bermacam-macam, ada yang mahal dan juga murah, tergantung dari
kualitas barang tersebut.

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, kita tidak bisa lepas dari kegiatan jual-beli. Dalam
menanyakan harga suatu barang, pastinya kita harus menggunakan ungkapan atau
pertanyaan yang tepat dan sopan. Maka, di pertemuan kali ini kita akan membahas/
mempelajari ungkapan/ pertanyaan yang tepat untuk menanyakan harga serta hal-hal
yang berkaitan dengan jual beli.

Seperti hal nya Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Inggris juga mempunyai ungkapan untuk
menanyakan harga suatu barang. Tapi sebelum mengenal ungkapan-ungkapan itu,
ada baiknya kita mengenal beberapa kosa-kata yang berkaitan dengan kegiatan jual-
beli.

Perhatikan Vocabularies (Kosa-kata) dibawah ini!

 Untuk menanyakan harga suatu barang di supermarket, di pasar atau di toko, dapat
menggunakan pertanyaan-pertanyaan berikut:

What is the price of ? How much is this ?

Contoh : Contoh :
A: What is the price of the television? A: How much is this bag?
(Berapa harga TV?) (Berapa harga tas ini?)
B: It is three million rupiahs. B: It is fifty thousand rupiahs.
(Harganya tiga juta rupiah.) (Harganya lima puluh ribu rupiah.)

How much does cost? (jika benda yang ingin ditanya itu tunggal)
How much do these .......... cost? (jika benda yang ingin ditanya itu jamak)

Contoh :

A: How much does this book cost? (Berapa harga buku ini?)
B: It costs twenty thousand rupiahs. (Harganya dua puluh ribu rupiah)

A: How much do these books cost? (Berapa harga buku-buku ini?)

B: They cost twenty thousand rupiahs? (Harganya dua puluh ribu rupiah)
 Selanjutnya, mari kita membaca harga dalam bahasa Inggris :

1. Rp. 50 Dibaca : Fifty rupiahs

2. Rp. 700 Dibaca : Seven hundred rupiahs
3. Rp. 2.000 Dibaca : Two thousand rupiahs
