FRACTIONATORS
Definisi
PRINSIP PERANCANGAN
Prinsip perancangan dari sebuah fractionators didasarkan atas :
-Volalitas Relatif
-Refluks Minimum
-Tahapan Minimum
-Refluks Aktual dan Tahapan Teoritis Aktual
-Refluks untuk Rasio Umpan
-Jumlah Tray
~Untuk
campuranideal,relativevolatility

12 =P2/P1.
~ Secaraekonomis,rasioreflux(R)optimum=1.2xRmin.
~Secaraekonomis,jumlahtray(N)optimummendekati2xNmin
.
~Jumlah tray minimum dapat ditentukan dengan persamaan
FenskeUnderwood:
Nm=log{[x/(1x)]ovhd/[x/(1x)]btms}/log
Desain mekanis :
1. Tebal shell dan head kolom
2. Tinggi kolom dan diameter kolom
3. Ukuran pipa masukan dan keluaran
4. Attachment menara
5. Cek pengaruh angin dan gempa terhadap ketebalan shell
6. Desain penyangga menara
7. Pemilihan jenis kolom
8. Pemilihan jenis packing
9. Pemilihan jenis tray

Example:
A liquid containing four components, A, B, C and D, with 0.3 mole fraction
each of A, B and C, is to be continuously fractionated to give a top product
of 0.9 mole fraction A and 0.1 mole fraction B. The bottoms are to contain
not more than 0.5 mole fraction A. Estimate the minimum reflux ratio
required for this separation, if the relative volatility of A to B is 2.0.

The underwood and fenske equations may be used to find the minimum
number of plates and the minimum reflux ratio for a binary system. For
a multicomponent system nm may be found by using the two key
components in place of the binary system and the relative volatility
between those components in equation 11.56 enables the minimum reflux
ratio rm to be found. Using the feed and top compositions of component
