1.1 Cast Iron :
Manifactured: Re melting of pig iron
Composition : - Carbon = 1,7 – 4,5 %
- Silikon = 0,5 – 3,0 %
- Magnesium < 2%
- Sulphur = max. 0,15 %
- Phosphorous = ± 0,6 %

Properties : - Hight compresion strength

- Brittle
- Density = 7030 – 7130 kg/m3
- Titik leleh 1200o C
- Sangat keras dan sukar dibentuk
- Berat Jenis = 7,5
Uses : - pipa, tutup manholes, rain water
pipe, Sanitary.
- Base of collumn, railing,
Peralatan mesin pompa, mesin
/motor, grouting.
1.2 Wrought Iron :
Manifactured: Re melting of pig iron
Composition: - Carbon = 0,05 – 0,15 %
- Bahan lainnya hasil oksidasi

Properties : - Strong in tension and weak in

compression strength
- UTS = 3,75 – 4,0 ton/cm2
- Density = 7700 kg/m3
- Titik leleh 1500o C
- Ductile dan small able

Uses : Untuk membuat paku, mur/baud, kawat, roofing

sheet, grill dll.
1.3 Steel :
Manifactured :
Campuran dari : Carbon, Phosphorous, Silikon, Sulphur
dan Magnesium.

Type of Steel :
Berdasarkan kandungan karbon :
1. Low carbon steel (mild steel), carbon content
up to 0.25 %
2. Medium carbon steel, carbon content 0.25–0.75 %
3. Hight carbon steel, carbon content 0.7 – 1.5 %
Berdasarkan kekuatan (strength) :
1. Mild Steel, pada umumnya digunakan untuk bahan
struktur.
Composotion :
- Carbon :
untuk tebal atau diameter < 20 mm, max 0,23 %
untuk tebal atau diameter > 20 mm, max 0,25 %
- Shulphur = 0,055 %
- Phosporous = 0,055 %
Prpoerties :
- Warna gelap
- Ductile dan mallable (mudah dibentuk)
- Dapat/mudah dilas dan dilubangi
- Mempunyai kekuatan yang hampir sama dalam
menahan tarik, tekan dan geser.
- BJ = 7,8
Uses :
- Baja profil berbentuk I, T, L, C dan pelat.
- Profil bulat padat, ada yang polos dan perprofil (untuk
tulangan beton)
- Profil bulat hollow/pipa
- Untuk pembuatan berbagai macam kunci, peralatan
mesin dll.

2. Hight Tensile Steel, pada umumnya digunakan untuk

baja beton prestessed.
Composition :
- Carbon = 0,8 %
- Magnesium = 0,6 %
- Silikon = 0,2 %
- Sulphur = 0,05 %
- Phorphorour = 0,5 %
