Apakah keanekaragaman hayati itu?
Keanekaragaman hayati merupakan ungkapan pernyataan tentang
terdapatnya berbagai macam variasi atau perbedaan sifat/ciri di antara
makhluk hidup yang ada di suatu tempat.

Perbedaan / variasi itu, meliputi variasi bentuk (bulat, lonjong, persegi),

warna, jumlah, ukuran, habitat, dan kebiasaan.

Jadi, keanekaragaman hayati adalah keanekaragaman semua

spesies tumbuhan, hewan, mikroorganisme, serta proses –
proses ekosistem dan ekologis yang ada disuatu tempat
Tiga tingkat keanekaragaman hayati :
• Keanekaragaman tingkat gen
Terjadinya variasi individu – individu dalam satu spesies,
baik dalam hal bentuk, sifat, warna, ataupun hal lainnya

• Keanekaragaman tingkat jenis (spesies)

Menimbulkan keanekaragaman ditingkat takson yang lebih
tinggi, misalnya tingkat genus

• Keanekaragaman tingkat ekosistem

Dari banyaknya variasi dan beranekaragamnya spesies akan
menyusun ekosistem yang berbeda pula

Apa itu Gen?
Gen merupakan faktor pembawa dan pengendali sifat – sifat makhluk hidup yang
terdapat di dalam kromosom.
Kromosom itu sendiri terdapat di dalam sel.

Pada dasarnya dimiliki oleh setiap makhluk hidup mengandung perangkat yang sama,
tetapi susunannya berbeda. Karena susunan yang berbeda, setiap makhluk hidup
memiliki sifat, fisiologi, anatomi dan morfologi yang berbeda pula.
