RANGKAIAN SERI
Rangkaian seri adalah rangkaian hambatan (resistor) yang
disambungkan secara berturut-turut.Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara
besarnya masing-masing hambatan dengan hambatan penggantinya
dalam rangkaian tersebut dapat menggunakan alat ukur voltmeter.
Rangkaian listrik yang komponen di dalamnya akan disusun secara seri
atau memiliki bentuk yang sejajar. Contoh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari
yang menggunakan rangkaian seri adalah lampu senter yang biasanya
akan memiliki rangkaian seri di dalamnya. Biasanya pada bagian baterai
dari lampu tersebut yang akan disusun secara seri. Sementara
pengertian lain dari rangkaian listri seri adalah input dari suatu
komponen di dalam rangkaian tersebut akan berasal dari output
komponen lainnya di dalam rangkaian tersebut. Oleh sebab itu
rangkaian listrik yang dirangkai secara seri ini tentu bisa menghemat
biaya dengan menggunakan sedikit kabel penghubung.
 Rangkaian Paralel

Rangkaian Paralel adalah salah satu rangkaian listrik

yang disusun secara berderet(paralel). Lampu yang
dipasang di rumah umumnya merupakan rangkaian
paralel.
Suatu rangkaian listrik, di mana semua input komponen
berasal dari sumber yang sama. Semua komponen satu
sama lain tersusun paralel. Hal inilah yang
menyebabkan susunan paralel dalam rangkaian listrik
menghabiskan biaya yang lebih banyak (kabel
penghubung yang diperlukan lebih banyak). Selain
kelemahan tersebut, susunan paralel memiliki kelebihan
tertentu dibandingkan susunan seri. Adapun
kelebihannya adalah jika salah satu komponen dicabut
atau rusak, maka komponen yang lain tetap berfungsi
sebagaimana mestinya.Berikut contoh gambar
rangkaian paralel.
Kelemahannya adalah ketika salah satu komponen dari
rangkaian tersebut dicabut atau mengalami kerusakan seperti
habis atau mungkin tidak berfungsi, maka komponen lain yang
terdapat di dalam rangkaian tersebut tidak akan berjalan dan
juga berfungsi dengan baik bahkan dapat menyebabkan mati
total. Seperti contoh pada tiga buah bola lampu yang dirangkai
atau disusun secara seri. Maka input dari lampu tersebut akan
dihasilkan dari output lampu yang lain yang terdapat di
rangkaian tersebut. Dan seandainya salah satu lampu tersebut
di cabut dan juga putus atau rusak, tentu lampu yang ada di
rangkaian tersebut bisa ikut padam.
Arus Searah (DC)
Arus searah (DC) yaitu arus yang mengalir ke satu arah saja dengan harga konstanta. Salah satu
sumber arus searah adalah batere. Di samping itu arus searah dapat diperoleh dengan
menggunakan komponen elektronik yang disebut Dioda pada pembangkit listrik arus bolak-balik
(AC).

b.      Arus Bolak-balik (AC)

Arus bolak-balik (AC) adalah arus yang mengalir dengan arah bolak-balik. Arus ini bisa juga
disebut arus tukar sebab polaritasnya selalu bertukar-tukar. Juga dapat disebut dengan arus AC
sebagai istilah singkatan asing (Inggris) yaitu Alternating Current. Sumber arus listrik bolak-balik
adalah pembangkit tegangan tinggi seperti PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) dan generator.
Tegangan adalah suatu tekanan yang menyebabkan terjadinya aliran arus listrik pada sebuah
penghantar. Biasanya tegangan tergantung pada ujung-ujung kawat penghantar. Apabila ujung-
ujung penghantar tersebut dihubungkan dengan batere atau generator, maka akan terjadi
tegangan. Jadi, tegangan adalah daya potensial yang tetap ada walaupun tidak ada arus.
Walaupun tidak ada hubungan terhadap peralatan lain tegangan tetap ada. Tegangan tetap ada
walaupun tanpa arus, tetapi arus tidak akan ada tanpa ada tekanan dari tegangan-tegangan

Komponen listrik di atas bisa disebut atau di rangkai secara
seri tentunya memiliki karakteristik tersendiri yaitu :
• Arus listrik di dalam rangkaian tersebut hanya memiliki satu jalur
saja.
• Hambatan total dari arus listrik pada rangkaian seri adalah jumlah
total dari tiap hambatan di dalam rangkaian listrik tersebut.
• Energi listrik akan disipasi pada tiap hambatan yang terdapat
dalam rangkaian tersebut. tentu saja jumlah tegangan di setiap
komponen listrik akan memiliki besaran yang sama dengan
sumber tegangan.
• Disebabkan hambatan total pada rangkaian listrik seri ini adalah
jumlah dari hambatan pada rangkaian tersebut, maka rangkaian
seri biasanya difungsikan untuk memperbesar hambatan.
