 Pengertian Puasa

Puasa secara Bahasa berarti menahan diri dari sesuatu, baik dalam bentuk
perkataan maupun perbuatan, Sedangkan secara istilah puasa adalah menahan diri
dari makanan dan minuman, dan hal-hal membatalkan puasa dari mulai terbit
fajar hingga terbenamnya matahari.
 Pengertian Puasa menurut para Ulama
01 Menurut al-Qusyairi
Puasa terbagi menjadi dua macam: puasa lahir (menahan dari halhal yang
membatalkan puasa disertai niat) dan puasa batin (menjaga hati dari
bahaya, menjaga ruh dari rasa miskin dan menjaga dari melirik selain
Allah Swt)

02 Menurut Syeikh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani

Menahan yang telah ditentukan mulai terbit fajar yang kedua (fajars{ādiq) sampai terbenam
matahari, pada bulan tertentu sesuai syara’. Adapun pengertian puasa secara hakiki adalah
menahan dan berpaling secara keseluruhan dari apa yang tidak benar menurut orang yang
berakal dan orang yang mempunyai keyakinan, yang sudah melihat dari rahasia sesuatu
(puasa), menurut orang yang mempunyai ilmu kepastian sekedar kemampuan.

Sedangkan arti shaum menurut istilah syariat adalah menahan diri
pada siang hari dari hal-hal yang membatalkan puasa, disertai niat
oleh pelakunya, sejak terbitnya fajar sampai terbenamnya matahari.

Puasa jika ditinjau dari segi hukum adalah seseorang berkewajiban mengendalikan dirinya
berkaitan dengan kebutuhan-kebutuhan makan, minum, dan hubungan seksual tersebut dalam
waktu tertentu. Dalam berpuasa juga sekaligus berusaha mengembangkan potensi agar mampu
membentuk dirinya sesuai apa yang diajarkan oleh Tuhan dengan meneladani sifat-sifatNya

Menahan diri dari segala yang membatalkan puasa mulai dari terbitnya fajar sampai
terbernamnya matahari, yang kedua inilah yang disebut dengan imsak. Imsak
dimaknai sebagai menahan diri dari makan, minum, hubungan seksual suami istri,
dan semua hal yang membatalkan puasa sejak fajar hingga matahari terbenam

Nawaitu shauma ghodin 'an adaa'i fardhi syahri romadhoona

hadihis-sanati lillahi ta'aalaa.

“Saya niat berpuasa esok hari untuk menunaikan kewajiban di

bulan Ramadhan tahun ini, karena Allah Ta'ala."

 Tujuan Puasa
Tujuan puasa berdasarkan surat qur’an Al-baqarah ayat 183 yang berbunyi :

“Hai orang-orang yang beriman, diwajibkan atas kamu berpuasa sebagaimana diwajibkan
atas orang-orang sebelum kamu agar kamu bertakwa.”
