⊡ Teori perkembangannya disebut teori revolusi sosiokultural

(sociocultural-revolution).
⊡ Teori Vygotsky difokuskan pada bagaimana perkembangan
kognitifanak dapat dibantu melalui interaksi sosial.
⊡ Anak-anak dapat membangun pengetahuannya dari belajar
melalui orang dewasa (guru dan tidak semata-mata dari benda
atau objek.
⊡ Bermain merupakan cara sosial untuk memperoleh pengalaman.

Bahasa dan Pemikiran

Vygotsky percaya bahwa anak-anak menggunakan bahasa bukan hanya

untuk komunikasi sosial, tetapi juga untuk merencanakan,
memonitor perilaku mereka dengan caranya sendiri. Menurut
Vygotsky ketika anak kecil berbicara kepada dirinya sendiri,
mereka menggunakan bahasa untuk mengatur perilaku mereka sendiri.

Piaget
Piaget memperkenalkan sejumlah ide dan konsep untuk mendeskripsikan dan
menjelaskan perubahan-perubahan dalam pemikiran logis yang
diamatinya pada anak-anak dan orang dewasa.
Perkembangan kognitif dimulai dari proses-proses berpikir secara
konkrit sampai dengan yang lebih tinggi yaitu konsep-konsep abstrak
dan logis.
Piaget meyakini bahwa anak-anak secara alami memiliki ketertarikan
terhadap dunia dan secara aktif mencari informasi yang dapat membantu
mereka memahami dunia tersebut.
