ABSTRACT
This study was aimed to describe about how to use of biology research articles in order
to bring up the creativity research proposals made by members of the Youth Science
Club. The descriptive qualitative method will be used as the research methodology. The
research subjects were 24 students (4 male and 20 female) who are the members of the
Youth Science Club National High School 3, Yogyakarta. The instruments used to
collect data were: the difficulty-of-perception-to-review questionnaire, analysis review
article sheets, presentation skill observation sheets, scoring creativity sheets,
questionnaire responses and field notes. As a method for teaching scientific article the
students were assigned to review the scientific article, presented it and lead the
discussion. The criteria of articles which suitable for members of the Youth Science
Club was a biology articles that described the purpose of the study, the core of the
problem, the background of the problem, hypothesis, scientific facts, the essential
concept that was refered by the researcher, variable of research, symptoms of
variable/parameter that was measured, how to analysis the data, controlling variable,
and the conclusions systematically and clearly. The majority idea of their research
design came from the combination between the biology articles which they had
reviewed and the problem in their environment. The creativity of the design research
based on the novelty, usefulness, and understandable aspect is: 86% of research design
was new, 57% was well worth, and 36% ideas was very understandable to others. Most
participants KIR was familiar to the scientific articles and gave a positive response to
these activities.
