Menurut Paul B. Horton, mobilitas sosial adalah gerak perpindahan dari satu kelas sosial ke kelas
sosial lainnya atau dari satu strata ke strata lainnya.
Mobilitas sosial terdiri dari lima bentuk yaitu:
1. Mobilitas Sosial Horizontal
Mobilitas sosial horizontal adalah peralihan dari individu atau objek sosial lain, ataupun sesuatu
kelompok sosial menuju kelompok sosial lainnya yang sederajat. Tidak ada perubahahan yang
terjadi di dalam derajat kedudukan seseorang di dalam mobilitas sosialnya.
2. Mobilitas Sosial Vertikal
Mobilitas sosial vertikal dapat diartikan sebagai bentuk perpindahahn individu maupun objek sosial
lainnya serta kedudukan sosial menuju kedudukan sosial lainnya yang kurang atau tidak sederajat.
3. Mobilitas Antar Generasi
Secara umum, mobilitas antar generasi dapat diartikan sebagai mobilitas 2 generasi maupun lebih.
Semisal generasi ayah-ibu, generasi anak, dan lainnya. Mobilitas ini ditandai dengan adanya
perkembangan taraf hidup dalam kehidupan. Entah itu meningkat maupun menurun. Penekanan
dari mobilitas ini bukan kepada perkembangan keturunannya tersebut namun perpindahan status
sosial yang terjadi dari generasi ke generasi lainnya.
4. Mobilitas Intragerasi
Jenis mobilitas ini merupakan peralihan dari status sosial yang terjadi di dalam sebuah generasi
yang sama. Dapat dikatakan pula contoh perubahan sosial budaya jika mobilitas intragenerasi
merupakan mobilitas yang terjadi di sebuah kelompok dengan generasi yang sama.
5. Gerak Sosial Geografis
Merupakan perpindahan individu maupun kelompok serta satu daerah menuju daerah lainnya,
semisal migrasi, urbanisasi, ataupun transmigrasi.

Cara-cara untuk melakukan mobilitas sosial adalah:

1. Mengubah standar hidup
2. Pergantian tempat tinggal
3. Perubahan tingkah laku
4. Mengganti nama
5. Perkawinan
6. Bergabung dengan organisasi tertentu.
Pengaruh Mobilitas Sosial pada Masyarakat

Dampak Mobilitas Sosial

1. Dampak Positif
a. Mendorong seseorang untuk lebih maju terbukanya kesempatan untuk pindah dari strata satu
ke strata yang lain menimbulkan motivasi yang tinggi pada diri seseorang untuk maju dalam
berprestasi agar memperoleh status yang lebih tinggi.
 b. Mempercepat tingkat perubahan sosial masyarakat ke arah yang lebih baik dengan mobilitas,
masyarakat selalu dinamis bergerak menuju pencapaian tujuan yang diinginkan.
c. Meningkatkan integrasi sosial, terjadinya mobilitas sosial dalam suatu masyarakat dapat
meningkatkan integrasi sosial.
2. Dampak Negatif
a. Timbulnya konflik
Konflik yang ditimbulkan oleh mobilitas sosial dapat dibedakan menjadi 3 bagian,yaitu
sebagai berikut.
1) Konflik antarkelas, apabila terjadi perbedaan kepentingan antarkelas sosial, maka bisa
memicu terjadinya konflik antarkelas. dengan adanya keadaan seperti itu keseimbangan
dalam masyarakat menjadi terganggu. contohnya konflik antara majikan dan buruh dalam
suatu perusahaan.
2) Konflik antarkelompok sosial. Konflik ini dapat berupa:
a) Konflik antara kelompok sosial yang masih tradisional dengan kelompok sosial yang
modern.
b) Proses suatu kelompok sosial tertentu terhadap kelompok sosial lain yang memiliki
wewenang.
3) Konflik antargenerasi
b. Berkurangnya Solidaritas Kelompok.
c. Dampak psikologis antara lain sebagai berikut:
1. Menimbulkan ketakutan
2. Adanya gangguan psikologis bila seseorang turun dari jabatannya (post power syndrome)
3. Mengalami frustasi.

1. Sesuai dengan materi pembelajaran yang sudah saya pelajari, maka mobilitas sosial yang
dilakukan masyarakat Aceh setelah bencana adalah mobilitas sosial berbentuk gerak sosial
geografis. Gerak sosial geografis adalah Merupakan perpindahan individu maupun kelompok
serta satu daerah menuju daerah lainnya, semisal migrasi, urbanisasi, ataupun transmigrasi. Hal
ini bisa terjadi karena banyak faktor seperti bencana alam yang harus menyebabkan
dilakukannya relokasi.
2. Bagaimana dampak bencana terhadap mobilitas sosial bagi masyarakat Aceh?
Mobilitas sosial yang terjadi pada masyarakat Aceh memiliki dampak kepada masyarakat
Aceh. Dampak positif yang dialami oleh masyarakat Aceh adalah mendorong masyarakat Aceh
untuk lebih maju. Setelah mengalami keterpurukan akibat bencana tsunami, maka masyarakat
Aceh melakukan perpindahan dari daerah yang terkena bencana ke daerah relokasi untuk
kelangsungan hidup selanjutnya. Perpindahan ke daerah yang baru mendorong masyarakat
untuk berbenah diri memperbaiki taraf hidup. Dengan mobilitas sosial tersebut, maka persatuan
(integrasi) di kalangan masyarakat Aceh semakin kuat setelah mengalami penderitaan akibat
bencana yang terjadi.
Dampak negatif akibat mobilitas sosial yang terjadi adalah timbulnya gangguan psikologis
yaitu munculnya perasaan takut/trauma akibat bencana tsunami yang melanda daerah mereka.

social class or from one strata to another.
Social mobility consists of five forms, namely:
1. Horizontal Social Mobility
Horizontal social mobility is the transition from individuals or other social objects, or social
groups to other social groups that are equal. There is no change that occurs in the degree of
one's position in social mobility.
2. Vertical Social Mobility
Vertical social mobility can be interpreted as a form of transfer of individuals and other social
objects and social position towards other social positions that are less or not equal.
3. Inter-Generation Mobility
Generally, intergenerational mobility can be interpreted as the mobility of 2 generations or
more. Such as the generation of father-mother, generation of children, and others. This mobility
is characterized by the development of living standards in life. Either it increases or decreases.
The emphasis of this mobility is not on the development of the offspring but on the
displacement of social status that occurs from generation to generation.
4. Intrageration Mobility
This type of mobility is a transition from social status that occurs within the same generation. It
can also be said to be an example of socio-cultural change if intragenerative mobility is the
mobility that occurs in a group with the same generation.
5. Geographical Social Movements
It is the transfer of individuals and groups as well as one area to another, such as migration,
urbanization, or transmigration.

1. Positive Impact
a. Encouraging someone to be more advanced opens the opportunity to move from strata to

order to obtain a higher status.
b. Speeding up the level of social change towards a better direction with mobility, the
community always dynamically moves towards achieving the desired goals.
 c.Increasing social integration, the occurrence of social mobility in a society can increase
social integration.
2. Negative Impact
a. Conflict arises
The conflict caused by social mobility can be divided into 3 parts, namely as follows.
1) Inter-class conflict, if there are differences in interests between social classes, it can trigger
inter-class conflict. in the presence of such a situation the balance in the community
becomes disturbed. for example, conflicts between employers and workers in a company.
2) Conflicts between social groups. This conflict can be:
a) Conflict between traditional social groups and modern social groups.
b) The process of a particular social group towards other social groups that have
authority.
3) Intergenerational conflicts
b. Reduced Group Solidarity.
c. Psychological impacts include the following:
1. Causing fear
2. There is a psychological disorder if someone comes down from his position (post power
syndrome)
3. Experiencing frustration.

1. In accordance with the learning material that I have learned, the social mobility carried out by
Acehnese people after a disaster is social mobility in the form of social geographical
movements. Social geographic movement is the movement of individuals and groups as well as
one area to another, such as migration, urbanization, or transmigration. This can occur because
of many factors such as natural disasters that must cause relocation.
2. What is the impact of the disaster on social mobility for the people of Aceh?
The social mobility that occurs in Acehnese society has an impact on the people of Aceh. The
positive impact experienced by the people of Aceh is to encourage the people of Aceh to be
more advanced. After experiencing the devastation due to the tsunami disaster, the Acehnese
moved from the affected area to the relocation area for further survival. Moving to a new area
encourages people to improve themselves to improve their standard of living. With this social
mobility, unity (integration) among the Acehnese people is getting stronger after suffering due
to the disaster.
The negative impact of social mobility that occurs is the emergence of psychological disorders,
namely the emergence of feelings of fear / trauma due to the tsunami that hit their area.
