Fungsi kulit:
permukaan kulit.
Skin function:
1. Protection (protection): The skin keeps the inside of the body against physical or mechanical
disturbances,
2. Absorption: Healthy skin is not easy to absorb water, solutions and solids, but volatile liquids
are more easily absorbed,
3. Regulation (Heat Regulator): Body temperature remains stable despite changes in ambient
temperature.
4. Excretion: The skin glands secrete useless substances or metabolic waste substances in the
body in the form of NaCl, urea, uric acid, and ammonia.
5. Perception / Receptor (Feeler): Skin contains sensory nerve endings in the dermis and
subcutaneous.
6. Pigment Formation: Pigment-forming cells (melanocytes) are located in the basal layer and
these cells originate from the nerve rigi.
7. Keratinization: Keratinocytes start from basal cells which make a division. Other basal cells
will move upwards and change shape to spinosum cells.
Epidermis
The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This layer, also called the epidermis, is a
waterproof skin layer that has different thicknesses
In the skin area there are also sweat glands. Sweat glands
DERMIS
The dermis is a layer of skin that is beneath the epidermal layer, both of which are connected by
a membrane called the basement membrane.
The dermis consists of two layers with no real boundaries, namely stratum papilare and reticular
stratum.
1. Stratum papilare, which is the main part of the dermal papilla, consists of loose connective
tissue. In this stratum found fibroblasts, mast cells, macrophages, and leukocytes that exit the
vessels (extravasation).
2. Stratum retikulare, which is thicker than the papillary stratum and is composed of irregularly
dense connective tissue. Consists of supporting fibers (collagen, elastin, reticulin), matiks (thick
liquid hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate and fibroblasts).
The dermis is the place where the end of the sensory nerve is located. These nerve endings
include:
1. Paccini, which is the nerve endings that are located around the hair roots and have sensitivity
to stimuli such as pressure.
2. Ruffini, which is nerve endings that have sensitivity to heat stimulation
3. Krause, which is the nerve end of the skin that has a sensitivity to cold
4. Merkel plates, which are nerve endings located on the surface of the skin that act as a feeling
associated with light touch and pressure.
5. Meisner, namely the nerve endings that have sensitivity to touch
6. Nerve endings without membranes, namely nerve endings that have sensitivity to pain.
Subcutaneous or Hypodermis
Hypodermis is a part that is located under the dermis layer. Hypodermis is a layer that contains a
lot of fat which acts as a food reserve, protects the body against collisions, and to hold heat in the
body. Hypodermis is the deepest layer of skin in which there are blood vessels, spleen, and
nerves that are parallel to the surface of the skin.
In general, hypodermis has various functions such as:
1. Helps support the inner body against collisions
2. Giving shape to the body
3. As a barn or provider of food reserves.
4. Helps maintain body temperature.
