ABSTRACTION
The background of the problem in this study is the lack of mathematical
cognitive abilities possessed by the child as a problem from the school and interest in
learning, to achieve mathematical cognitive abilities that are expected, it is necessary
to note several factors that can influence it. According to Anni (2004) factors
affecting learning achievement is divided into 2 internal factors and external factors.
The purpose of this study to determine the influence of the school of origin and
interest in learning the math skills of students in class X MAN Sibuhuan.
The method used is quantitative method with an analytical study design, that
is used to determine causal relationships akibatantara two variables, in which the
relationship can be the difference, relationship or influence .. Respondents in this
study were students of class X MAN Sibuhuan as many as 41 students. Data
collection tools in the form of tests, questionnaires, and documents. Bivariate data
analysis using Chi-square test and multiple regression analysis using SPSS version
20.
Based on the analysis by Chi-quadrat a significant difference between the
origin of mathematics school with cognitive abilities acquired significant value 0.001
< 0.05. And a significant difference between the interest in learning the mathematics
cognitive abilities gained significant value 0.002 <0.05. While multiple linear
regression analysis a significant difference between the home school and interest in
learning the mathematical ability of students, obtained significant value of 0.001
<0.05. So it can be concluded that there is influence between home school and
interest in learning on cognitive abilities math class X MAN Sibuhuan.
