ABSTRAK
ABSTRACT
Background: Head injury causes structural and functional damage on brain tissue.
Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is one of the way to measure the severity of head injury.
Blood vessel injuty caused by head collision induces hemorrhage (hemoglobin loss)
and affect blood circulation of the brain, causing oxygen insufficiency in the brain.
Objective: To find out the correlation of GCS score and Hemoglobin (Hb) level of
head injury patients at RSUD Undata Palu.
Methods: This is a retrospective observational analytic research with a cross
sectional approach. The number of samples involved in this research are 66 patients.
Statistical analysis uses Spearman correlation test.
Result: The total of mild head injury patients are 45 (68,2%), 10 patients with
moderate head injury (15,2%) and 11 patients with severe head injury (16,6%). The
number of patients with normal Hb level is 45 patients (68,2%) dan 21 patients with
low Hb level (31,8%). P value of the Spearman correlation test is 0,251.
Conclusion: No correlation is found between GCS score and Hb level of head injury
patients at RSUD Undata Palu.
