ABSTRACT
This study aims to produce a valid, reliable and practical biology laboratory
performance assessment instrument. The validity aspect was reviewed by the results
of the assessment of the biological laboratory performance assessment instrument by
the validators, the scores obtained were then analyzed using quantitative descriptive
analysis methods. The reliability aspect is evaluated from the validation and
reliability of the observer which is then analyzed using the Percentage of Agreement
formula. The practicality aspect in terms of the feasibility of developing a biology
laboratory performance appraisal instrument and the results of the teacher
questionnaire were calculated using the practicality formula adopted from Widoyoko
(2013). The results of the data analysis show the validity of performance assessment
instruments using a microscope and universal indicators is categorized as very valid,
while the performance appraisal makes a simple respirometer, makes a simple
spirometer, demonstrates chest breathing and abdominal breathing movements
categorized valid. The validation reliability (R ≥ 75%) and the reliability of the
Instrument (R ≥ 75%) so that it is categorized as reliable. The practicality of
performance appraisal instruments using a microscope and universal indicators,
making a simple respirometer and a simple spirometer, as well as demonstrating chest
and abdominal breathing movements seen in succession are 95.37% (very practical),
93.18% (very practical), 97 , 22% (very practical), 99.26% (very practical), 91.07%
(very practical), 82.18% (very practical). Whereas based on the results of the
teacher's questionnaire performance appraisal instrument Practical performance
appraisal instruments using microscopes and universal indicators, making simple
respirometer devices, demonstrating chest breathing and abdominal breathing
movements are categorized very practical, while performance assessment instruments
making simple spirometers are categorized as practical.
