Diarrhea is not a disease that comes by itself, but there are triggers.
Diarrhea is caused by rotavirus and adenovirus, this virus attaches to the cells of
the intestinal mucosa, as a result, the intestinal mucosal cells become damaged
so that the resorption capacity decreases and the secretion of water and
electrolytes increases. Due to rotavirus infection, namely vomiting, fever, nausea,
and acute watery diarrhea. The result of acute diarrhea is loss of water and
electrolytes resulting in dehydration, nutritional disorders, and absorption
disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between
early complementary feeding and the incidence of diarrhea in infants 0-12
months in Sumbersekar Village, Dau District, Malang Regency.
This study uses a quantitative method with a cross sectional approach.
The location and time of the study was in Sumbersekar Village, Dau District,
Malang Regency from August 2021 to September 2021. The independent
variable (X) was early breastfeeding complementary feeding and the dependent
variable (Y) was the incidence of diarrhea. The total population is 65 mothers
who have babies aged 0-12 months with a sample size of 30 respondents. The
sampling method used purposive sampling technique, namely the sampling
technique of data sources with certain considerations. The data obtained were
then analyzed using a descriptive statistical approach. By using a simple linear
regression model.
The t value of the variable for early breastfeeding complementary feeding
(X) is 8,476 > ttable 2,045, meaning that there is a significant relationship
between early breastfeeding complementary feeding (X) and the incidence of
diarrhea (Y). The calculated F value is 68,834 > from the F value of 0.05 (4.20), it
means that there is a significant relationship between the variable of early
breastfeeding complementary feeding (X) and the incidence of diarrhea (Y). The
Rsquare value of 0.690 means that the relationship between early
complementary feeding and the incidence of diarrhea in infants 0-12 months in
Sumbersekar Village, Dau District, Malang Regency is 69%, while the other 31%
is influenced by other factors not examined.
