1. Neighborhood Size
• telah dipelajari sejak konsep Kota Taman (Ebenezer Howard,
1898)
• Neighborhood = ukuran/luasan yang diperlukan untuk
menunjang 1 SD untuk sekitar 1200 - 1500 keluarga.
• 2 N diperlukan untuk mendukung 1 SMP
• 4 N diperlukan untuk mendukung 1 SLTA
• Indonesia : 1 RT 30 KK utk pedesaan dan 50 kk utk
perkotaan (maksimal). 1 RW min 3 RT maksimun 10 RT
• Permendagri 7 tahun 1983 ttg pembentukan RT dan RW
Contoh:
Columbia, Maryland → 8 N membentuk satu kelurahan, terdiri dari 3.000 – 5.000 keluarga (12.000 – 20.000
penduduk)

2. Superblok
• Dipakai untuk menggantikan sistem
grid/rectangular yang khas
• Unsur-unsur:
1) Pemisahan lalu lintas pejalan kaki dan
kendaraan dengan menyediakan jalur
khsusus, untuk cul-de-sac yang melayani
kelompok, unit-unit yang oleh karenanya
mengurangi ‘through traffic’.
2) Rumah-rumah dengan ruang duduk dan
kamar tidur menghadap ruang terbuka dan
taman/kebun membentuk taman di tengah
Superblok.
3) Membatasi berbagai ukuran jalan ke dalam
(menjadi) 1 penggunaan, eg.: jalan kolektor
atau lokal.
