Standar yang digunakan untuk keamanan laser di
Amerika Serikat adalah standar LIA / ANSI Z136.1 dari
Institut Laser Amerikat.

Parameter yang diapakai untuk mengukur keparahan

adalah panjang gelombang, daya keluaran, durasi denyut,
dan ukuran sumber.
• Pencegahan dilakukan berdasarkan tingkatan kelas, yaitu kelas 1 (t
idak berbahaya) sampai kelas 4 (sangat bahaya)
• Tingkat paparan laser berdasarkan kelas:
a. Kelas 1: tidak berbahaya dan tidak diperlukan pencegahan.
b. Kelas 2: paparan berbahaya bila dilihat selama 1,000 detik dan m
emerlukan pencegahan terbatas.
c. Kelas 3: paparan berbahaya bila dilihat melalui perangkat optik d
an memerlukan tindakan pencegahan
d. Kelas 4: paparan berbahaya bila terkena kulit dan mata dan mem
erlukan pencegahan yang ketat.

LIA / ANSI Z136.1-1993 menetapkan bahwa interval eksposur

untuk laser yang terlihat adalah 0,25 detik (rentang antara 400
dan 700 nm daripada 760 nm) .
Contoh Tingkatan Bahaya Laser Berdasarkan Kelas
Kontrol

Kontrol teknik utama untuk laser adalah

penutup, biasanya dalam bentuk ruangan yang
saling bertautan dan rumah pelindung.

LIA / ANSI Z136.1-1993 mengakui penyediakan

keamanan yang setara untuk interlock panel
akses, dengan menambahkan lampu status
ruangan (hijau untuk aman masuk. kuning untuk
mungkin tidak aman untuk masuk, dan merah
untuk tidak aman untuk masuk) ke sistem interlock
laser dan untuk memasang pengeras suara dan
buner di dekat lampu status ruangan sehingga
pengunjung dapat berbicara dengan penghuni
ruangan selama operasi laser.
 Kontrol teknik efektif saat sistem laser disiapkan, tetapi tidak
efektif saat sistem laser disiapkan atau selama pemeliharaan.
Oleh karena itu, perlu perhatian khusus, termasuk kontrol
administratif dan tanda peringatan khusus.

Alat bantu yang tersedia untuk mempermudah penyelarasan dengan

kacamata pelindung:
Disk IR yang dipasang pada komponen optik dapat digunakan selama
penyelarasan setelah penahan tangga.
Kartu IR atau UV yang bersinar dengan cahaya tampak saat terkena
sinar laser IR atau UV.
Pemirsa IR yang membuat tempat di mana pancaran sinar muncul di
permukaan, menunjukkan titik yang terlihat.
Kertas putih kuat atau kertas berwarna yang berpendar dalam berbagai
panjang gelombang (warna) saat terkena sinar laser yang terlihat. Radiasi
fluoresen dapat melewati lensa kacamata pengaman laser yang ditujukan
untuk panjang gelombang laser

 Konvensi Internasional untuk tanda peringatan berdasarkan seri
standar ANSI Z353 dengan menentukan warna, kata peringatan,
simbol standar, dan tata letak tanda peringatan

Program keselamatan laser harus mencakup hal-hal berikut:

•Petugas keamanan laser dan, jika diperlukan jumlah dan
keragaman operasi laser, komite keselamatan laser.
•Pendidikan personel yang berwena
•Penerapan kontrol yang ditentukan dalam standar
•Pelaporan dan investigasi kecelakaan dan rencana tindakan
untuk mencegah terulangnya insiden
•Pengawasan medis sebagaimana ditentukan dalam kacamata
pelindung
ANZI Z136,1-1993 membatasi penggunaan smbol merah untuk tanda Bahaya, symbol dan teks
naratif kini dalam warna hitam dan warna yang digunakan untuk menunjukan tingkat bahaya
(kuning dan hitam untuk Perhatian, oranye dan hitam untuk Peringatan, dan merah, hitam dan
putih untuk Bahaya). Ekor panjang melambangkan bagaimana sinar laser mempertahankan
kekuatannya dalam jarak jauh. Simbol yang sama, tetapi tanpa ekor, di usulkan untuk sumber
radiasi optic non laser yang intens.

Simbol peringatan laser adalah sunburst keluarga. Kata PERHATIAN

digunakan pada tanda dan label untuk laser Kelas 2 dan 3a dan sistem
laser yang tidak melebihi MPE yang sesuai. Kata BERBAHAYA harus
digunakan untuk laser Kelas 3a dan semua laser Kelas 3b dan 4.
 Penunjuk dioda laser Kelas 2 baru lebih cemerlang dan lebih aman. Petugas keselamatan harus:
•Memperingatkan karyawan tentang bahaya penyalahgunaan dioda laser pointer-mereka dapat menyebabkan cedera jika seseorang menatap sinar dalam waktu lama.
•Ganti pointer Kelas 3a 670-nm dengan pointer Kelas 2 635-nm.

Laser Pointer

Laser pointer pertama adalah Laser He-Ne diganti dengan laser

laser helium-neon (He-Ne) dioda, namun pancaran awal dioda
yang memancarkan pada 670 nm, di mana respons visual mata
632 nm (merah) jauh lebih sensitif yaitu pada 632 nm.

Penunjuk dioda laser Kelas 2 yang lebih aman, petugas

keselamatan harus:
Memperingatkan karyawan tentang bahaya penyalahgunaan
dioda laser pointer-mereka dapat menyebabkan cedera jika
seseorang menatap sinar dalam waktu lama.
Ganti pointer Kelas 3a 670-nm dengan pointer Kelas 2 635-nm.
Masalah Peraturan Lainnya dengan Laser

Standar konstruksi OSHA menetapkan bahwa mereka yang dapat

terkena cahaya langsung atau pantulan di atas 5 mW harus
dilengkapi dengan perlindungan sinar laser dan bahwa hanya
perangkat mekanis atau elektronik yang dapat digunakan untuk
memandu penjajaran laser. Standar ini juga menetapkan kriteria
pemaparan yang diringkas di bawah ini:
Batas menatap langsung 1 µW/cm²
Batas pengamatan tidak sengaja 1 m/W/cm²
Cahaya pantulan yang menyebar 2,5 W/cm²
