Reggae
Musik Reggae berasal Jamaika, muncul pertama kali pada 1960-an.
Kemudian, dalam perjalanannya memiliki beberapa tahapan. Pada awalnya
musik Reggae merupakan turunan musik Ska & Rocksteady yang muncul pada
era 1950 sampai 1960-an. Musik Ska berkembang menjadi sebuah musik jenis
aliran baru yaitu Rocksteady yang banyak dipengaruhi oleh para pemuda-
pemuda Rude boy di Jamaika. Rude boy adalah para pemuda yang bersikap
anti kemapanan. 5 Kelompok ini identik dengan kebudayaan jalanan, yang
menjadi pemicu munculnya banyak kekerasan dalam perkembangan musik
aliran Rocksteady. Aliran musik baru muncul dengan irama yang lebih lambat
dari dua jenis musik sebelumnya yaitu Ska dan Rocksteady yaitu musik
Reggae.

REGGAE
Reggae adalah aliran musik yang awalnya dikembangkan di Jamaika pada akhir
era 60-an. Sekalipun kerap digunakan secara luas untuk menyebut hampir segala
jenis musik Jamaika, istilah reggae lebih tepatnya merujuk pada gaya musik
khusus yang muncul mengikuti perkembangan ska dan rocksteady.

Rastafara
Tony Q Rastafara merupakan solois Reggae.
Sebelumnya bersama grup musik Rastafara,
Tony Q mempopulerkan istilah “Rambut
Gimbal”. Tony Q juga dianggap sebagai
pelopor musik reggae di Indonesia. Selain
karena telah berkecimpung sejak lama di
dunia reggae, Tony Q juga mengembangkan
reggae dengan memasukkan unsur tradisional
Indonesia.

MARLEY
Bob Marley dianggap sebagai pelopor musik
reggae. Robert Nesta Marley OM, nama
lengkapnya, adalah musisi Jamaika uang lahir
di Nine Mile pada 6 Februari 1945. Bersama
band-nya, Bob Marley and The Wailers, ia
menyanyikan lagu penindasan perbudakan di
masa lalu dan harapan masa depan akan
persatuan.
