ABSTRACT
Evaporation process in PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia use a falling film evaporator.
The concentration product of evaporation is approximately 97.5%. The need for
new product make the concentration of AN product should be increased until
99%. The purpose of this research are to determine the variables which affect the
concentration AN solution of 97.5%, and determine the optimum operating
conditions of the variables that influence to obtain a concentration of 99% AN.
This research was conducted by using a polymath, hysis, mass and energy
balance equations. The most influential variables based polymath version 6.0 is
the flow rate of steam. From simulation hysis can be found the relationship to
increase the concentration of AN products are done by increasing the steam flow
rate, feed flow rate 78% AN, AN concentration recycle and reduce feed flow rate
AN recycle. Based on mass and energy balance equation the amount of steam
required to raise the concentration to 99% AN is 2389.41 kg / hr.
