ABSTRACT
Many people who work as fish farmers keep the fish in the mouth of the
Pangkajene river causing the fish are easy to contaminated with heavy metals.
South Sulawesi residents fish consumption especially Pangkep as one of the
largest fish especially milkfish, however this time many fish farmers who
cultivated nile tilapia in district of Ma'rang Pangkep regency with a reason to a
period of harvest very fast. This becomes the background writer to do research
especially heavy metal content of lead (Pb) of the nile tilapia in that area using
Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). This research is conducted in
August until December 2016. The purpose of this research is to find out how
many levels of heavy metals contained in the organs and meat of nile tilapia that
can be known if the fish are safe or not to be consumed by the public. Total
sample of 57 fishes. First doing a necropsy of the fish to the separation of meat,
liver and gills of fish then put into the bottle film so that it can proceed with the
analysis of heavy metals lead (Pb) using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer
(AAS) in laboratory. The results showed samples of meat, liver and gills of nile
tilapia positive for heavy metals lead (Pb) with the highest accumulation is found
in the liver. At the end the results showed the amount of accumulated metallic
lead (Pb) in nile tilapia exceeding the threshold are allowed and will affect an
increase in the accumulation of heavy metals in humans with the increasing
number of local communities the fish consumption
