One ASEAN Community is a four-day event to be held in
Manila, Philippines. This year’s summit integrates a global youth
conference and a strategic simulation of a model ASEAN
meeting, which will provide delegates with a holistic experience
in terms of how they understand ASEAN, its rudiments and its
intricacies. In the conference proper, key ideas and issues,
ranging from political-security to socio-cultural affairs, will be
discussed by renowned speakers from their respective fields. A
variety of talks, in the form of plenaries, track sessions, and panel
discussions, will provide delegates a forum where they can
enrich their knowledge and voice their ideas in their fields of
NaMODELASEAN
In the Model ASEAN meeting simulation, delegates will be
given the opportunity to understand the decision making
process and the diplomatic procedures that are involved in an
ASEAN meeting. Representing a particular ASEAN nation,
delegates will have a chance to develop a different perspec-
tive regarding regional issues through understanding the cir-
cumstances of a different nation, debate and present their
proposals to each other, with a collective goal of authoring
and implementing a policy that all nation states will have
agreed upon. We have strategically tailored our simulation in
a way that retains the essence of an ASEAN meeting without
its thorough complexities for the purpose of creating a pleas-
ant and accessible experience to anyone who might be
interested in these matters.IU Ce A
BUILDING ONE ASEAN COMMUNITY
Almost fifty years in existence, ASEAN
continues to champion solidarity in its
efforts and in its actions. As we
endeavor to establish a dynamic
ASEAN community, the youth of
today, who will eventually be the
leaders of tomorrow, must strive to
recognize its solidifying
partnerships and forging bonds,
which ultimately leads to the success
role in
of this integrated community. In the
face of complexities and contradic-
tions, we develop a renewed perspec-
tive in the way we view our differences
acknowledge the
our individuality in conceiving our
regional identity.
