ABSTRACT
WHO (World Health Organization) reported that the main cause of death in children
under five is diarrhea (post neonatal) 14%. This is because still lack a healthy dig
water wells and the lack of participation of the mother against the occurrence of
diarrhea in infants. This study aims to determine the relationship of water pollution
dug wells and participation of mothers on the incidence of diarrhea in children under
five in Sub RejosariPekanbaru. The used research design descriptive correlation with
cross sectional approach. The analysis is the analysis of univariate and bivariate
through Chi-Square test with a quota sampling technique withen 67 respondents.
Measuring tool of this research are questionnaires and observation sheets. Results of
this study showed that there was a significant relationship between pollution of water
wells with p value = 0.004 (p value < = 0.05) and the mother's participation p value
= 0.000 (p value < = 0.05) on the incidence of diarrheal disease inSubdistict
RejosariPekanbaru City. The conclusion from this study is that there is a significant
relationship between water pollution dug wells and participation of mothers on the
incidence of diarrheal disease in children under five in SubdistrictRejosariPekanbaru
City. Expected for mothers who have children increase their participation to the
occurrence of the disease in order to reduce the incidence of diarrheal disease in
young children, one of them noticed the cleanliness of water sources.
