Good morning all, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mufti. I was born in Penajam on 26 July 1998. I
live in Longkali now. Right now I stayed at my aunt’s house. Now allow me to introduce myself further. I like
things that smell of adventurous, and small things like reading, watching, and spent my free time by doing
nothing. Okay now about me and my family, I am the first child in my family. I have a little sister, and she is
high school student. My father is an Entrepreneur which is named Arif Faroq Suza’i. While my mother is a
teacher. I love my family more than anything. Well that’s my introduction this time. Pleased to meet you.

An email from Hannah

Hello, Alia! Let me introduce myself. My name is Hannah.


I know your name from my friend, Caroline. She told me that you sent her an email telling her that you would like to
have more pen pals from the US. I’d really like to be your E-pal. You sound really cool!
I guess I’d better tell you something about myself first. I’m 16 years old and I attend Thomas Edison High School here
in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. I have two brothers and two half-sisters and I’m the middle child. My father died a
few years ago so my mother runs the house and the family business. My father was a barista.
I have lots of hobbies. I like music – mostly classical music and folk music – but I don’t play an instrument. I like sports,
especially tennis and basketball. At school I’m in the basketball team and I spend most of my extra-curricular time
playing basketball. I’m into animals very much. My sister and I have three dogs, a rabbit and an iguana. They need
lots of attention as you can imagine. At school, I have many Hmong friends who were not fully fluent in English. Their
family moved here from Asia. I enjoy talking to them about our different cultures. My favorite subjects at school are
art and geography. I think I’d like to become a park ranger when I graduate, perhaps work for the National Parks
Service. I haven’t got much interest in fashion, although we have ‘Mall of America,’ the biggest mall in Minnesota.
We can reach the mall very easily. A commuter train runs every 15 minutes; buses also come from different directions.
We can also drive to the mall. It’s much faster than going there by train or by bus. I don’t like reading but I love
drawing and painting. How about you? Please drop me a line, Alia! Can’t wait to hear from you!

SUPPORTING FEATURES
Introduction is an expression of introduction to know one's identity, we need to introduce ourselves
to a clearer communication process with whom we talk, about what we are talking about and other
conditions.

- There are two forms of introduction that is formal and informal

a. formal introduction

A formal introduction is used when you introduce yourself in a formal room for example. Self in front of class,
workroom, meeting room and Official forums, such as seminars. Formal intakes are used in formal situations.

Informal introduction is used when you introduce yourself to someone at about the same age
with you. Informal introduction id used in a non formal situation. Usually used on unofficial events or
forums, such as introductions when in public meet new friends or friends. Commonly used words are as
follows :

The Text Structure of Introduce Yourself

A. Opening
The thing you should know is about the 3 main points Is the first step where you should open by saying
greeting.
in conveying a material:
Greeting has 2 types:
 Opening
  Formal / Official: Good Morning, Good

 Main Idea Afternoon, Good Evening.
  Informal / Unofficial: Hi, Hello

 Closing Example in the sentence:
- Good morning Mr. Rudolph, I would like to
introduce myself. (Formal)
- Hi friends, I will introduce myself. (Informal)

B. Main Idea 1. Name


Is the essence of the material to be delivered. In this Name there are 2 kinds:

chatter can be closer and familiar. Is a cover sentence or often called Leave Taking.

For Family Background, you can simply
introduce your family in general.
Before introducing your family, it's a good idea
to open it using the following sentence:
 I would like to tell my family.

Grammar Review

Read the following sentences:

Alia wants to have many pen pals because Alia likes making friends. Alia’s pen pals come from many
parts of the world. Caroline introduces Alia to Hannah. Now, Hannah becomes Alia’s pen pals.
Hannah likes Alia a lot.

The word Alia is repeated too often and that makes the sentences not interesting. To make the sentences
better we can replace Alia with pronouns :
Alia wants to have many pen pals because she likes making friends. Her pen pals come from many
parts of the world. Caroline introduces her to Hannah. Now Hannah becomes Alia’s pen pals. Hannah
likes her a lot.

There are several types of pronouns: subjective, objective, possessive adjectives, and possessive
pronouns. Read the following table and the following explanation.
