Abstract
Children with special needs are children who have limitations, extraordinary skills
on physical, mental, intellectual, and emotional. These conditions lead to various
reactions from parents, especially mothers. The positive reaction is acceptance,
while the negative reactions are about rejection and denial. The research aimed to
find out the influence of positive parenting program for the parental acceptance on
children with special needs in SLB N Slawi. The research was a quantitative
research with quasi experimental design using one group prepost test design
approach. Sampling technique used probability sampling with proportional
random sampling type, namely 26 people. The research instrument used a
standard questionnaire of PPAS (porter parental acceptance scale) was created by
porter 1954 and modified by Eliyanto in 2013 contained 16 questions. The results
of data analysis used statistical test Wilcoxon Match Pair Test. It showed that P
value was lower than 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05) which means Ho was rejected and Ha
was accepted. On the other hand, there was an influence of positive parenting
program for parental acceptance on children with special needs in SLB N Slawi.
For the children with special needs school should be implementing a positive
parenting program training as a routine activity when meeting the parents.
