com - Wakil Presiden Jusuf Kalla menolak untuk kembali dicalonkan menjadi
calon wakil presiden pada Pemilu 2019 karena alasan terbentur UUD 1945.

Namun, Menteri Dalam Negeri Tjahjo Kumolo menyatakan, aturan soal cawapres dua periode dalam
UUD 1945 masih menjadi perdebatan.

Kalla sebelumnya menjadi wapres periode 2004-2009 di masa pemerintahan Presiden Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono.

Kemudian, Kalla menjabat wapres pada masa pemerintahan Presiden Joko Widodo pada periode
2014-2019, dan tidak menjabat dua periode berturut-turut.

Tjahjo menyatakan, Kemendagri menyerahkan ke KPU yang dapat menjelaskan hal tersebut.
"Mungkin pihak resmi yang menyampaikan, apakah dari KPU atau apa. Penyelenggara (pemilu) kan
KPU," ujar Tjahjo.

Tjahjo sendiri tak mau mencampuri urusan politik bila Kalla kembali diusulkan jadi wapres.

"Urusan partai politik itu yang mencalonkan," ujar politisi PDI-P itu.

Sebelumnya, Wakil Presiden Jusuf Kalla mengetahui adanya dorongan agar dirinya maju lagi untuk
menjadi calon wakil presiden (cawapres) pada Pemilu Presiden 2019. Namun, dengan halus, Kalla
menolaknya.

Pasal 7 UUD 1945 memberikan batasan terkait dengan masa jabatan presiden dan wakil presiden.
Presiden dan wakil presiden memegang jabatan selama lima tahun dan sesudahnya dapat dipilih
kembali dalam jabatan yang sama hanya untuk satu kali masa jabatan.

Artinya, presiden dan wakil presiden hanya dapat dipilih kembali untuk jabatan yang sama untuk
satu kali masa jabatan alias maksimal dua periode jabatan.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla refused to be re-nominated as a vice presidential candidate in the 2019
election for reasons of the 1945 Constitution.

However, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo stated that the regulation regarding vice versa of two
periods in the 1945 Constitution is still a debate.

Kalla previously became vice president of the period 2004-2009 during the reign of President Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono.

Then, Kalla served vice president during the reign of President Joko Widodo in the period 2014-2019,
and did not serve two consecutive periods.

Tjahjo stated, Kemendagri submitted to the KPU that can explain it. "Perhaps the official party who
delivered, whether from the KPU or what, the organizer (election) KPU," said Tjahjo.

Tjahjo himself does not want to interfere in political affairs if Kalla is re-proposed as vice president.

"The affairs of the political parties are nominating," said the PDIP politician.

Earlier, Vice President Jusuf Kalla was aware of the impetus for him to step forward again to become a
vice presidential candidate (vice president) in the 2019 presidential election. However, Kalla refused.

Article 7 of the 1945 Constitution provides restrictions related to the term of office of president and vice
president. The President and Vice-President shall hold office for five years and thereafter be eligible to
be re-elected in the same position for a one-time term.

That is, the president and vice president can only be re-elected for the same position for a one-time
term alias for a maximum of two periods of office.
