Abstract
The introduction of laboratory equipment important to safety when conductingresearch.
Laboratory instruments can usually be damaged or even dangerous if its use is notin accordance
with the procedure. Importance carried out the introduction of laboratoryequipment is in order to
know how to use these tools properly, so that errors can beminimized procedure tool use as little
as possible. This is important so that when doingresearch, the data obtained will be correct.
Sterilization is the elimination all microorganisms, including bacterial spores, are very
resistant. Virus and bacteria from human hands during the sterilization process and the influence
of free air or less optimal sterilization process causes medical instruments to be less sterile.
Therefore, we need an instrument that can do the process wet sterilization, drying and storage
automatically without being affected human hands and free air. Test mechanics, biology and
chemistry are done to see the capabilities of the system in doing sterilization. Mechanical test
results show that it can reach a temperature of 121 ° C in about 30 minutes. Test results biology
shows that this tool is able to kill the Staphylacoccus bacteria aureus with a 100% mortality rate
within 15 minutes. Chemical Test Results indicates a change in the color of the autoclave tape as
an indication of the process sterilization has been successfully carried out.
Sterilization system for medical devices. This automatic qualifies as a ready-made
medical instrument. Dry Heat Sterilization is sterilizing medical tools / instruments use a heater /
oven with high heat, such as metal tools sharp, heat-resistant glass tools. Dry Heat Sterilization
provides dry air as a conductor heat from hot steam at the same temperature, so higher than the
use required autoclave.
Sterilization is a process to kill all micro-organisms that exist, so that if they are grown in
a medium there are no more microorganisms that can multiply. Sterilization must be able to kill
the most heat-resistant microorganisms that are bacterial spores. Moisture heat sterilization is
usually carried out in a metal vessel called an autoclave. This sterilization was carried out with
pressurized saturated steam of 15 lb / in2 for 15 minutes at 121 ° C. This temperature is the best
sterilization temperature for materials that will be stored for a long time. The relationship
between pressure and temperature only applies to places at sea level. For places above sea level
higher pressure is needed to reach the same temperature.
