Borobudur is the biggest Buddhist Temple in the Ninth Century. It lies in Magelang
Central Java. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 meters high. This Buddhist temple
has 1460 relief panels and 504 Buddha effigies in its complex. Millions of people are
eager to visit this building as one of the World Wonder Heritages.
Borobudur was built by King Samaratungga, one of the kings of Old Mataram
Kingdom, the descendant of Sailendra dynasty. Based on Kayumwungan inscription, an
Indonesian named Hudaya Kandahjaya revealed that Borobudur was a place for praying
that was completed to be built in 824, almost one hundred years from the time the
construction was begun.
Borobudur is constructed as a ten-terraces building. The height before being
renovated was 42 meters and 34.5 meters after the renovation because the lowest level
was used as supporting base. The first six terraces are in square form, two upper terraces
are in circular form, and on top of them is the terrace where Buddha statue is located
facing westward. Each terrace symbolizes the stage of human life. In line with Buddha
Mahayana, anyone who intends to reach the level of Buddha’s must go through each of
those life stages.

Last holiday, my family and I decided to spend our time in a village which is
famous for their wooden crafts. We had planned this for a month because we just moved
to a new house and wanted to look for new home decorations. We left early since we
wanted to visit our relatives after the visit.
At the village, we were amazed by the diversity of the crafts we saw. We could
discover small toys, unique boxes and furniture. Several shops also offered a quick
lesson on crafting. I had a chance to learn how to make a simple wooden craft in a
workshop. In the meantime, my family went to look for several crafts to decorate our
house. We spent quite some time in the village.
Satisfied with my lesson in the workshop, I decided to find the others. However, I
could find them. Then, I decided to go to the parking lot. To my surprise, I saw my car

and someone I didn’t know came out. Then I heard someone called me from behind the
parking lot. That was my family. I felt embarrassed and then apologized to the people in

But unfortunately, I fell down, the dog managed to capture me and bit my leg. I was

My cousins took me to a doctor. After examining me, the doctor said that I was
exposed to rabies. Then I was hospitalized for one week. That was so terrifying that I
would never forget it.
