CONDITIONAL IF- IMPERATIVE / SUGGESTION

Conditional sentences are sentences expressing factual implications, or hypothetical situations and
their consequences. They are so called because the validity of the main clause of the sentence is conditional on the
existence of certain circumstances, which may be expressed in a dependent clause or may be understood from the
context.

IF + CLAUSE + IMPERATIVE

Conditional sentence pada fungsi ini digunakan untuk menyuruh seseorang melakukan sesuatu jika menginginkan
sebuah kondisi terjadi.
RUMUS:
IF + Present simple , Verb 1 + ….( Imperative)

Present simple berarti adalah semua bentuk tenses yang present bisa berupa simple present tense, present
simple atau present continuous. Dan kalimat imperative selalu didahului oleh kalimat dengan kata kerja jenis 1.
Berikut adalah contoh kalimat IF , Clause + Imperative pahami dan ingat apa grammar yang digunakan.
Contoh
• If you see John, tell him he needs to come to my office.
• If you travel abroad, remember the passport
• If you go to Australia, send me a postcard.
• If you go to the supermarket, bring back some milk.
• If Mike comes, call me.
• If you drink, don't drive.
• If you visit Seattle, Sail to Bainbrige Island on a Washington State Ferry.
• If you visit Seattle, Tour Pike Place Market.
• If you visit Seattle, Book a night at Sun Juan Islands.
• If you visit Seattle, Visit Chihuly Garden and Glass.
• If you visit Seattle, Watch the aircraft being built at the Boeing factory.
• If you visit Seattle, Tour The Chocolate factory in Freemont.
Kata yang dicetak tebal merupakan imperative atau kata perintah. Kalimat-kalimat tersebut sama saja dengan
mengucapkan: Jika kondisi pertama terjadi, kamu harus melakukan hal ini (kondisi kedua/kata perintah).

Mom : What are you doing Jean?
Jeanny : Hmm I’m doing nothing mom. I just want to take a bath but the whether is so

IF + CLAUSE + SUGGESTIONS

Conditional sentence jenis ini digunakan untuk memberikan saran tentang apa yang seharusnya dilakukan jika
menginginkan sebuah kondisi terjadi.
Rumus :
IF + SIMPLE PRESENT, S + SHOULD /HAD BETTER/ OUGH TO + V1
atau
IF + SIMPLE PRESENT, WHY DON’T + S + V1?

Example:
If you want to pass the exam, you have to study harder.
If you want a good price, why don't you go to the factory outlet?
If you want to be the chair of OSIS, offer a good program to improve the school environment.
If you don't put some cherries on it, your cake will look pale and dull
If I am elected president, I will waive taxes for poor people.

Contoh 1
Mom : Why do you look so pale Jeanny?
Jeanny : Hmm I’m sick mom. I may get
headache.
Mom : Ok, If you want to get better soon, you should get some medicine and take a
rest. Jeanny : Thanks mom.

Contoh 2
Anna : I really like cooking, but sometimes I don’t know what to cook. Do you have any
idea? Jessy : If you need to know some cooking menus, why don’t you search it in internet?
Anna : That’s a good idea. Thanks

Giving suggestion with conditional may use present real conditional (Type 1) or present unreal conditional
(Type 2).
