ABSTRACT
Introduction: The Tuberkulosis disease is highly contagious disease that caused by
Mycobacterium Tuberklosis . The tubercle bacillus infects one third of worlds population and
tuberculosis is the primary cause of death. WHO declared that approximately 1,9 billion of
people has infected with tuberkulosis basil and Indonesia is ranked third on the WHOs list of 22
high-burden countries. The aim of the study is to asses the prevalence of the treatment drop out
patient of tuberculosis based on sex, educational status, and payment method.
Method: The design of the study was descriptive cross-sectional.The study was
conducted at Rumah Sakit Umum Haji Adam Malik for 2 months (28 August till 28 October
2010. The sample has been taken based on medical record with total sampled. The data was
analyzed using SPSS 17 programme.
Result: The result showed that 47 of 228 ( 20.6%) patients were drop out from the antituberculosis treatment. 28 of 47 (59.6%) patients are male dan 19 of 47 (40,4) patients are
female. Based on educational status there is 1 (2.1%) patient without elementary education,
while SD 13 patients (27.7% ),SMP 14 patients ( 29.8%), SMA 14 patients ( 31.9%) , D3 no
patient , and PT 4 patients ( 8.5%). Lastly, based on the payment method 29 of 47 (61,7%) are
insurances patient and 18 of 47 paid via direct payment.
Conclusion: Due to the fact, there are still a lot of drop out patient of DOTS strategy so,
