Therapy of Hysteria adalah usaha untuk mengkombinasikan kedua sisi

tersebut dan menciptakan kemungkinan untuk dilegakan/diluapkan.

Kemungkinan katarsi yang patologis:

1. Pelepasan yang tak Memadai
2. Ketidakmampuan Psikis
3. Pertahanan dengan substitusi ----- histeria!

Fungsi mental dibedakan pada karakteristik jumlahannya, yang mungkin meningkat, dihilangkan,dipindahkan,
dan dilepaskan, yang mana menyebar ke dalam jejak-jejak memori ibarat sengatan listrik yang menyebar pada
sekujur tubuh.
Penemuan F R E U D (1895-an):

Psikopatologi (termasuk histeria di dalamnya) dise-

babkan oleh pertahanan yang berlebihan terhadap
representasi psikoseksual, masing-masing memi-
liki jumlahan afek (conscious subjective aspect of
feeling/emotion)

Dalam histeria, jumlahan afek secara psikis diubah

menjadi representasi kelompok psikoseksual. Kel-
ompok ini akan ditangkal oleh Ego, dan kembali ke
bagian somatis, hasilnya adalah konversi.

Maka, ada dua grup representasi yang berbeda:
