ABSTRACT
AIDS (Aquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is a collection of symptoms that arise from a decrease
in the immune system caused by the HIV virus (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) (World Health
Organization, 2007). HIV is a type of virus that decreases the immune system. People affected by this
virus become susceptible to various infections or also susceptible to tumors and cancer. From January
to December 2013 the number of new HIV cases reported was 29,037 cases. Based on the available
data compared to 2012, there was an increase of 7,526 cases (new cases of HIV in 2012 were 21,511
cases). Government efforts have been carried out in various ways, one of which is providing VCT
(voluntary counseling and testing). The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of
HIV-AIDS patients in Visitors at Pringsewu Hospital 2020.
This type of research is quantitative, analytic research design with a descriptive approach. This
research was conducted at Pringsewu General Hospital on January 6-15, 2020. The sample needed in
this study was 118 respondents. The analysis used to see the variables studied using univariate
analysis by looking at the frequency. The results obtained an average age of 28 years, the majority of
women, the average junior high school education, the work of most farmers, mostly unmarried, sexual
status of 65 bisexual respondents, history of non-ARV treatment, caused by free sex, BMI 21.60,
complaints of fever.
It is expected that hospitals will improve VCT clinic services and facilities, qualifying standards for
VCT officers with training.
