Effect of Low Impact Aerobics On Blood Sugar Levels in Patients with Type II DM in Andalas
ABSTRACT
Background: The prevalence of Diabetes mellitus disease, especially Diabetes mellitus type II,
has increased from year to year both in the world and in Indonesia. The data in Andalas Public
Health about patient with type II DM has increased from the previous year, from 613 increased
to 733. Physical exercise in patients with type II DM has an important role in control or lose
blood sugar levels.
Objective: To know the effect of low impact aerobic which is one of the effective physical
exercise to lose blood sugar levels in patients with type II DM in Andalas Public Health, Padang
in 2019.
Method: This research is Quasi Research experimental with Pre and Post Test without control
group, number of samples are 26 people and analysis of data using Wilcoxon Test.
Result: The middle value of the Pre Test is 189.50 and the middle of Post Test value is 158.50 so
thus obtained a significant effect of low impact aerobic on blood sugar levels in patients with
type II DM in Andalas Public Health, Padang (p = 0,000).
Conclusion and suggestion: advised to Andalas Public Health to be able for apply this low
impact aerobic and adjust to the principle of exercise in the diabetics, namely F.I.I. T to be able
to control blood sugar levels in patients with type II DM Maximum.
