struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan yang benar dan sesuai konteks.

Uraian Materi Pembelajaran:

DEGREES OF COMPARISON

Degree of comparison membahas mengenai perbandingan bisa pada adjective(kata sifat) maupun
adverb (kata keterangan).  

Jenis-Jenis Degree of Comparison.

Terdapat tiga tingkat perbandingan yaitu positive degree, comparative degree, dan superlative
degree.  3 Tingkat perbandingan dalam degree of comparison:

Positive Degree

Positive Degree (Tingkatan Biasa) adalah kata sifat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa
suatu benda atau orang dalam keadaan sama dengan yang lainnya. Susunan kalimat ini dibentuk
dengan menempatkan kata sifat ( adjectives) atau kata keterangan cara (adverb of manner)
diantara dua as.

Rumus

S+TO BE + AS + ADJECTIVE + AS

Atau

S+VERB + AS +ADVERB + AS

Contoh:

1.  She is as dilligent as her sister.

2. My brother walk as quickly as my father

Comparative degree  

Comparative Degree (Tingkatan Lebih) digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa keadaan suatu
benda atau orang lebih dari yang lainnya.  

Rumus

S+ TO BE + ADJECTIVE+ ER + THAN Atau S+ TOBE+ MORE+ ADJECTIVE+ THAN  

dan

S+ VERB + ADVERB+ ER + THAN Atau S+ VERB+ MORE+ ADVERB+ THAN

Contoh

1. They are more dilligent than my other friends.

2. She is better than her brother.

3. The car goes more quickly than that bus.  

Superlative degree  

Di dalam Superlative Degree, sebuah benda atau seseorang tidak mempunyai pembanding karena
dia adalah yang paling diantara semuanya. Kata ‘the’  atau the most digunakan sebelum kata sifat
untuk menegaskan bahwa sifat tersebut adalah yang paling diantara semuanya.

Rumus

S+ TOBE + THE ADJECTIVE  + EST

Atau  

S+ TOBE + THE most  ADJECTIVE

Contoh:

2. This car is the most expensive among others.

4. They are the most dilligent students.
