A. HOPE (Harapan)
1. Pengertian
Oxford menjelaskan hope : “to want something to happen and think that it is possible” (menginginkan
sesuatu terwujud dan berfikir hal tersebut mungkin terjadi.)
2. Penggunaan
Hope digunakan :
- ketika kita mengindikasikan sesuatu yang mungkin terjadi atau mungkin akan terjadi.
- untuk menunjukkan keinginan di masa depan dan akan melakukannya.
- untuk harapan yang tingkat kemungkinannya terjadi sangat tinggi
- untuk membicarakan tentang kemungkinan situasi yang kita inginkan di masa lalu, masa sekarang atau
pun masa depan
Contoh dalam kalimat :
1. I hope you had a good attitude at the party last night.
2. I haven’t looked outside yet. I hope it’s not raining.
3. I hope you have a great day.
4. I hope you’re not going to go to the supermarket without your mother.
5. I hope my teacher will not angry with me.
6. We hope that they will come

Dialog 1
A: I heard you are going to participate in the cooking contest.
B: Yes, I am.
A: Nice! I hope you will win the contest.
B: Thanks. I hope so too.
Dialog 2
X: Hey, do you want to come with us to go fishing in the lake tomorrow
Y: That sounds fun, but I don’t know if my mom allows me.
X: You should ask her, then.
Y: Okay. I’ll ask her. I hope she let me come along with you.

(Saya berharap bahwa saya dapat membantumu.)

(Saya berharap untuk bertemu denganmu.)

(Saya berharap untuk belajar bersama besok.)

(Saya berharap untuk pergi ke sana dengan keluargaku.)
